Why do children have congenital heart disease?

Every child is a gift from God to his mother and is the hope and treasure of the whole family. Children are the heart and soul of the whole family and the joy of their parents. But some children are born unfortunate and are born with congenital diseases, but the disease does not stay away from them because of this. Congenital heart disease is the most common congenital disease, which not only brings great misfortune to the family, but also brings a heavy burden to the society. So why do some children suffer from congenital heart disease? Let me explain them one by one for you below.

Heart disease can be divided into congenital heart disease and acquired heart disease. Among them, congenital heart disease (CHD for short) is the most common heart disease in young children. It refers to congenital malformations caused by abnormal development of heart and blood vessels during the fetal period. Common ones include ventricular septal defect, atrial septal defect, patent ductus arteriosus, tetralogy of Fallot, etc.

The cause of congenital heart disease is still unclear, but it may be related to genetic factors (chromosome aberrations and gene abnormalities) and environmental factors. Environmental factors include various infections of the mother in early pregnancy, such as rubella, influenza, cytomegalovirus infection, human parvovirus B19 infection, coxsackievirus infection, etc., as well as the mother's exposure to large amounts of radiation, the mother's diabetes, and the use of certain medications such as anti-cancer drugs. Therefore, during pregnancy, especially within 3 months, the mother should avoid various infections such as rubella and influenza, do not keep cats, dogs and other animals indoors, temporarily move away from work environments that are exposed to radiation and poisons, avoid taking medications indiscriminately, avoid smoking and drinking, so as to reduce the chance of congenital heart disease in children.

Every year in my country, approximately 7‰ to 11‰ of babies born suffer from congenital cardiovascular abnormalities, bringing great misfortune and heavy burden to their families and society. According to modern medical research, there are many high-risk factors that can cause fetal heart malformations. For example, there is a family history of congenital heart disease.

The above is the answer from cardiologists to the question of why newborns suffer from congenital heart disease. I hope it can help everyone understand more. This is mainly related to the living environment of the pregnant woman. Only with a healthy pregnant woman can there be a lively child.
