The reason why newborns only sleep and don't eat milk

Pregnancy is a big event for women, and giving birth is even bigger. However, taking care of a child is the biggest thing in a woman's life and a burden on a family. The health of the child is a big concern for every mother and every family. If the child is found to have any adverse conditions during the parenting period, parents will begin to have questions. Many times, we see that the newborn has been sleeping since birth and refuses to eat milk. So what is going on?

Newborns are generally more fragile, and many of their systems are not fully developed, so their sleep time is generally longer, and they need about 15 hours of sleep a day. If it is within this range it may be normal. Sometimes, newborns are uncomfortable in some aspects, but because infants are too young to express themselves, these problems may be overlooked if you don't observe carefully. It is best for mothers to learn more about their children's habits, pay more attention to them, and watch out for any abnormalities in their children. If there is no other reason and the child is sleepy and refuses to eat, it may be that the excitability of the nervous system is low, so you can wake the baby up, play with him, and don't let him sleep all the time. However, you should pay attention to whether the newborn is unwilling to eat due to gastrointestinal discomfort, and be careful when taking care of the newborn.

Newborns spend most of their time sleeping. They almost eat when they wake up and sleep again after eating. Babies grow in sleep, so there is no need to wake them up to feed. If the baby does not eat, it means he is not hungry. If the interval between feedings is too long at night, you can wake him up to feed him if he is less than one month old. Every baby's sleeping habits are different. Usually a newborn baby sleeps nearly 20 hours a day. Babies aged 1 to 3 months sleep day and night, and sleep for about 16-20 hours.

Pay attention to the baby's mental response, whether he cries, whether his skin is pale or yellow, and whether his body temperature is normal. Most children sleep for a long time. If their mental response is good, it is generally not a problem to ensure the amount of milk they are fed. But at the same time, we must also pay attention to rule out special circumstances, such as neonatal sepsis. In this case, the baby may not cry or make a fuss, have poor response, refuse to feed, and have a normal body temperature or fever. If there are no such problems, then there is no need to worry too much, just pay attention and observe.

Many mothers who are giving birth for the first time say they don’t understand this situation of their children. However, after hearing our introduction above, I believe many young mothers understand it. So don’t worry too much if your child only sleeps and doesn’t breastfeed. Sleep is very important for newborns, so don’t disturb your child when he is sleeping, as this is very bad for his physical development.
