Whether a child can grow up healthily depends not only on the child's diet, but also on the child's own digestive function. Because even the best food is wasted if it cannot be absorbed. Therefore, improving the child's digestive ability is a big deal. So, what can't children eat when they have poor digestion and absorption? Look at children's stool and treat indigestion symptomatically (1) Stools that are large in volume, foamy, rough in texture, and contain food residues or undigested food are mostly caused by eating too much or the sugar content in the food is too high. For such young children, it is necessary to control their food intake or reduce the sugar content in their food. Feeding them some easily digestible food such as rice soup, lotus root starch paste, etc. will help them return to normal. (2) If a breastfed baby's stool is found to be foamy, egg-drop-shaped, and has a strong acidic odor, this is usually due to excessive breastfeeding and the high sugar content in the milk. In this case, there is no need to stop breastfeeding. You can shorten the feeding time or extend the interval between feedings, and feed the baby an appropriate amount of tea water or warm water during the interval. Put less sugar in the milk and gradually return to normal. (3) The stool is yellow-brown, watery, or mixed with undigested milk curds and has a pungent odor of rotten eggs, indicating that there is a problem with the digestion and absorption of protein foods. For such infants and young children, the amount of protein in complementary foods should be reduced. Breastfed babies can drink more water before feeding to reduce the protein concentration in the milk. When feeding with milk, add appropriate amount of water and rice soup to the milk, and adjust the concentration according to the age of the baby. (4) The stool is large in volume, paste-like, oily in appearance, contains a lot of milk curds and fat droplets, and has a strong odor, indicating fat malabsorption. Breastfeeding mothers should eat less high-fat foods. For bottle-fed babies, you can dilute milk with water and rice soup or use low-fat milk. The intestinal function of babies aged 0-3 years old is relatively fragile and their digestive system is not fully developed. When choosing formula milk, you should carefully select formula milk with added β-vegetable oil (affinity structural fat) and moderately hydrolyzed protein. Moderately hydrolyzed protein, which hydrolyzes protein macromolecules to form a mixture of smaller molecules, reduces the burden of gastrointestinal digestion and is easier for babies to absorb. At the same time, when adding complementary foods, rice noodles, rice paste and other easy-to-digest and low-allergenic complementary foods should be preferred. A good rice noodle should be made from whole grain rice because it retains all the nutrients of rice. If a baby suffers from indigestion while eating complementary foods, it is mostly caused by the softness or hardness of the complementary foods. When adding complementary foods, you should increase the amount from one to multiple, from small amounts to large amounts, from thin to thick, and then gradually add them after the baby's stomach and intestines adapt. Children with poor digestion and absorption should not be delayed without treatment, because if the digestion is not good, the baby cannot grow up healthily. In order to make your child healthier and promote the child's continued development, it is best to give the child appropriate food when the digestion and absorption are poor. |
