What Chinese medicine is there to treat children's colds?

Colds are very common in children and are relatively easy to cure. But this is the biggest headache for many mothers. Because children often catch colds, they will often take medicine, which is naturally bad for their health. Moreover, taking cold medicine frequently will make children less sensitive to cold medicines, which adds some difficulty. So many mothers want to use traditional Chinese medicine to improve this situation. Traditional Chinese medicine can also be harmful to the body, so it is recommended to use Chinese patent medicine. We will recommend some Chinese patent medicines to you below, hoping that they will be of some help to some people.

The following is a brief introduction to the Chinese patent medicines commonly used at home for treating children's colds:

(1) Jiubaodan: It has the functions of inducing sweat and relieving exterior symptoms, relieving cough and resolving phlegm, and strengthening the stomach and promoting digestion. It is mainly used for colds caused by wind and cold, with symptoms of chills and fever, headache, limb aches, no sweating, nasal congestion, runny nose, cough with sputum, loss of appetite, etc. Take 1 pill each time (3 grams per pill, twice a day, with warm water; reduce the dosage for children under one year old.

(2) Miaolingdan: It has the effects of clearing away heat, relieving exterior symptoms, relieving cough and reducing phlegm. It is suitable for children with headache, fever, fear of cold, no sweat or little sweat, nasal congestion and runny nose, cough with sputum, sore throat, shortness of breath, thirst, red face and lips, and even persistent high fever and convulsions caused by exogenous wind evil and heat accumulation in the lungs and stomach. This pill is a commonly used medicine for treating children's colds, fever, cough and sputum. Take 1 pill (each pill weighs 1.5 grams) twice a day with mint decoction or warm water.

(3) Children's Cold Granule: It can clear away heat and relieve symptoms. It is mainly used for children with cold and fever. It can be used for both common cold and influenza. Take twice a day, 24 grams per bag. For children under 1 year old, each bag is divided into 4 doses; for children aged 1-3 years old, each bag is divided into 3 doses; for children aged 4-7 years old, each bag is divided into 2 doses; for children aged 8-12 years old, each bag is divided into 1 dose. Just take it with warm water.

(4) Xiaoer Baoyuan Dan: It has the functions of clearing away heat, relieving exterior symptoms, calming the nerves and resolving phlegm. It is suitable for children with colds, wind-colds, and internal phlegm-heat caused by the following symptoms: fear of cold and fever, no sweating, nasal congestion, runny nose, cough with excessive phlegm, shortness of breath and wheezing, red face and lips, and even persistent high fever, irritability, coma and convulsions. It is a commonly used Chinese patent medicine for treating children's colds that have not been cured and high fever and shortness of breath caused by excessive internal heat. Take 1 pill each time (each pill weighs 0.9 grams), twice a day. Take with mint and Uncaria rhynchophylla decoction or warm boiled water. For children under one year old, reduce the dosage accordingly.

Because children do not like to take medicine and it is difficult for them to take medicine, when prescribing medicine, you should choose small doses and high efficacy drugs. In this way, Chinese patent medicines are used more frequently in pediatric diseases, and some dosage forms, such as pills and powders, can also be mixed with milk, honey or porridge for administration. Generally speaking, the above two methods can successfully treat children's common colds. Of course, if it is a mild cold, you don’t even need to take medicine. Drinking more boiled water, chicken soup or ginger soup will have a certain effect. This will not only not cause any harm to the child's body, but will also replenish the body. It can be said that it kills two birds with one stone. It is recommended that parents adopt this method
