Why does the baby cry when he has a bowel movement?

If your baby cries as soon as he has a bowel movement, it may be because he is constipated, making defecation very difficult. It may also be because he has diarrhea and feels a little uncomfortable in his stomach, so he cries. No matter what the reason is, parents can directly observe the baby's bowel movements and make inferences. If the child has not defecated for several days and the stool is particularly dry, then the baby should be constipated. But if the stool is very watery, then the baby should have diarrhea, so he will cry because he is uncomfortable.

If the baby is constipated, it is recommended to train the baby to have bowel movements from an early age. You can add fruit and vegetable puree to the baby's complementary food, or add a few drops of vegetable oil to the complementary food. Be sure to replenish water, prepare milk powder according to the standard, exercise more (appropriately increase abdominal muscles and intestinal peristalsis function), massage the baby's abdomen in a clockwise direction (1-2 hours after feeding) for about 10 minutes, 2-3 times a day. If constipation lasts for more than 3 days: use a suppository or the mother can wear a little finger cot, apply Vaseline on it and gently insert it into the anus. The above method should not be used frequently, otherwise the bowel movement will become dependent.

If it is due to diarrhea, parents should carefully observe the nature, color, frequency and amount of the stool, and keep the abnormal part of the stool as a specimen for testing to find out the cause of the diarrhea; pay attention to keeping the abdomen warm to reduce intestinal peristalsis, and wrap the abdomen with a towel or apply a hot water bottle to the abdomen; make sure the baby gets more rest, wash the buttocks with warm water after defecation to prevent red buttocks, and the diapers should be cleaned, boiled and disinfected, and dried before use.

Whether the baby is constipated or has diarrhea, parents should pay close attention. We do need to observe children's every move more often, because children cannot speak yet, so we have no way of knowing where they are uncomfortable. So we have to rely on our own careful observation to see where the child is uncomfortable.
