What is the problem with normal foreskin in children?

Many men are certainly familiar with foreskin that is too long. The cause of male foreskin that is too long is generally congenital factors. Male foreskin that is too long and phimosis can cause many harms and seriously affect the male reproductive health. Generally, there will be some symptoms when the child is 2 to 3 years old. If parents want to perform circumcision on their children, they can choose to do it when they are six to fifteen years old.

Phimosis refers to the narrowing of the foreskin opening or the adhesion of the foreskin to the glans penis, which makes it impossible for the foreskin covering the penis to be turned back to expose the urethral opening and glans penis.

Phimosis means that the foreskin covers the urethral opening, but can be turned up to expose the urethral opening and the glans penis. Excessive foreskin will affect the normal development of the glans, and in severe cases, the glans will become deformed. The most serious is the potential risk of causing cancer. It is easy to have no ejaculation. It can cause premature ejaculation.

For primary phimosis, if there is no indication for surgery, conservative treatment can be chosen (usually suitable for children under 6 to 7 years old). 0.05% to 0.1% adrenal glucocorticoid ointment or emulsion can be applied topically twice a day for 20 to 30 days. Topical hormones are ineffective for foreskin adhesions and are not recommended. For children before puberty (generally referring to the period between 13, 14 and 17, 18 years old), regardless of whether the foreskin is too long or phimosis, surgery is not recommended if there is no repeated infection or adhesion; for males after puberty with phimosis, surgery is required; for males after puberty with too long foreskin, surgery should be performed if combined with repeated infection, adhesion or tight foreskin. As long as you develop good hygiene habits, you can eliminate smegma, reduce the irritation of smegma, and greatly reduce the occurrence of cancer. It can be seen that paying attention to removing smegma is the key to cancer prevention.

If you decide to have a circumcision, it is only a minor operation and can be performed in many hospital outpatient clinics. You must pay attention to rest after the operation and rest in bed for at least two days. During this time, you must pay attention to avoid penile erection and take precautions against infection, otherwise it is very likely that bacteria will enter and cause inflammation.
