What to do if baby's belly button is bleeding

Because the baby's physique is relatively fragile, it is easy to be invaded by various pathogens. My belly button is infected by the virus. This is what we call omphalitis in our daily life. Many parents are always worried that after the baby's belly button is discharging pus, it will infect other parts of the body. Let us find out what to do if the baby's belly button is discharging pus?

If a newborn baby has yellow water and purulent secretions from the navel, it is omphalitis caused by bacterial invasion. If the navel is red, there is local tenderness, and it is accompanied by fever and poor spirits, it means that the condition is more serious and the baby should go to the hospital for treatment in time.

Parents should be particularly reminded that in some cases, there is no redness or swelling on the surface of the umbilicus, but a layer of purple-black scab is present in the umbilical cord, and purulent secretions may be found flowing out, indicating that there is an inflammatory infection under the scab, so parents should observe carefully.

The stump left after the umbilical cord is cut off in a newborn is the most susceptible to infection. Therefore, to prevent omphalitis, we must first pay attention to strict disinfection when cutting the umbilical cord. At the same time, we must also pay attention to the cleanliness of the newborn's umbilical cord and change diapers frequently to avoid bacterial infection.

If omphalitis is discovered, it should be treated as soon as possible. Generally, the treatment for mild omphalitis is simple. Use 75% alcohol to thoroughly wipe off the purulent secretions in the umbilical pit, then disinfect it twice with alcohol cotton, and then wrap it with dry sterilized gauze. Treat once a day until healed. If the above treatment does not improve, you should go to the hospital for examination and treatment.

Parents don't have to worry, because pus discharge from the baby's belly button is not a common symptom. As long as you pay attention to daily hygiene, wipe the baby's body frequently, and change clothes frequently, you can effectively avoid pus discharge from the baby's belly button. Finally, I wish every baby can have a healthy body.
