Why are children's hands peeling?

Why are children's hands peeling?

Children generally have better skin than adults, but due to their poor resistance, they may develop skin diseases. For example, they may feel their hands peeling. This is the most common situation. This phenomenon mostly occurs in late spring and early summer. The temperature in this season is relatively humid, which makes fungal infections more likely to occur.

Palm peeling is often accompanied by excessive sweating of the palms, so some people believe that it is related to poor sweating. Hand shedding is often seasonal, occurring mostly in the hot and humid seasons of late spring and summer, and often recurring for many years. Most patients have experienced excessive mental stress and anxiety before the onset of the disease. Others believe that it is related to fungal infections in other parts of the human body, such as tinea manuum and pedis. This kind of peeling phenomenon occurs in patients in late spring, summer and autumn every year when the temperature is high and the humidity is high, coupled with excessive mental stress and poor sweating on the palms. This is because the stratum corneum of the epidermis separates from the underlying epidermis.

At first, some small white spots appear on the palms, and then gradually expand to form dried blisters of varying sizes. A layer of whitish stratum corneum appears on the surface, which can naturally break and fall off like a layer of translucent thin paper. If it continues to fall off, what will be left behind is a large area of pink new growth that looks like a map. If you tear it off without waiting for it to fall off naturally, bleeding and pain will occur. In addition to the palms, the same shedding can also occur on the toes. It's not a disease, it's normal.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that palm peeling is similar to "goose palm wind" in traditional Chinese medicine. It is believed that the onset of the disease is mainly caused by internal dampness and heat, blood deficiency and blood dryness, skin malnutrition, and dryness and heat generating wind. The treatment should be to strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness, nourish blood and dryness, and dispel wind and relieve itching. Therefore, use 10 grams of Atractylodes lancea, 10 grams of Phellodendron chinense, 10 grams of Anemarrhena asphodeloides, 30 grams of Coix seeds, 15 grams of Angelica sinensis, 30 grams of Rehmannia glutinosa, 15 grams of White Peony Root, 12 grams of Polygonum multiflorum, 10 grams of Kochia scoparia, 10 grams of Gentiana macrophylla, 10 grams of Saposhnikovia divaricata, and 6 grams of Licorice. After taking this prescription twice, you can also add 3 grams of alum, boil it in water and soak the affected hands in the liquid for about 20 minutes each time. It has a moisturizing and antipruritic effect.

Other methods

1. During the blister stage, the main focus should be on astringency and antipruritic measures, and soaking in 10% alum solution can be used.

2. During the shedding stage of the palms, do not use medication to protect the newly grown epidermis. You can apply Xinfu Kangmei ointment externally. Be careful not to tear off the stratum corneum that has not been completely peeled off to avoid causing pain or bleeding.

3. Patients with dry skin, thickened keratin and small cracks can also use Xinfu Kangmei ointment for external application.

4. Apply vitamin C injection to the affected area twice a day, for a course of 3 days. It has a certain auxiliary effect on the recovery of skin lesions.

6. Patients should also maintain an optimistic mood, avoid mental stress and emotional excitement, and try to avoid contact with alkaline detergents. Can prevent the occurrence of this disease.
