Some children often have nosebleeds. So what should we do if children have nosebleeds in winter?

What to do if your baby has a nosebleed

1. Stay calm. Parents can reassure their baby by staying calm. Panic will only increase the baby's fear, speed up the baby's blood circulation, and cause bleeding faster.

2. Pinch the nostrils on both sides (the cartilage of the nostrils) with your thumb and index finger, breathe through your mouth, and the bleeding will stop after a few minutes. If conditions permit, you can apply cold compress (ice compress) to accelerate the contraction of capillaries in the nasal cavity, thereby achieving the purpose of stopping bleeding.

3. If your baby has a lot of nosebleeds, you can use cotton or gauze to plug the nasal cavity to exert a certain pressure and avoid excessive blood loss.

How to prevent baby's nosebleeds in autumn and winter

1. Use an indoor humidifier to increase the humidity in the air;

2. Take a steam bath; the hot and humid air can soften nasal secretions. When bathing, close the bathroom door and let your baby breathe steam for 15 minutes while ensuring safety. You can also use a facial steamer.

3. When the nasal cavity is dry, you can use a cotton ball dipped in clean water to wipe the baby's nasal cavity;

4. Avoid spicy foods, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, and drink enough water;

Pay attention to adding or removing clothes in the morning and evening to avoid colds, and tell your baby not to expose himself to the sun or pick his nose with his hands.
