How many months is it better to add complementary food to your baby?

Newborn babies need to pay attention to care issues to avoid situations that affect the baby's safety and health, which will threaten the baby's safety and health, especially the issue of adding complementary foods. Adding complementary foods can well ensure the safety and health of the baby's diet. So, at how many months is it better to add complementary foods to the baby? Well, let me introduce it to you below.

Generally speaking, babies' intestines begin to produce digestive enzymes that can digest other foods at around four months old. Therefore, complementary foods can be added to babies from four months old. It is recommended to start with rice paste or rice flour, starting with a small amount (2 to 4 small spoons a day). Pay attention to the stool after feeding. If the stool is normal, it means that the baby can adapt to the complementary food, and then you can increase the amount and add other complementary foods.

Generally, babies can start to eat some complementary foods when they are 6 months old. The diet of babies aged 4-6 months is still mainly breast milk or formula milk. The amount added starts with 1-2 spoons and then gradually increases. Mainly provide liquid and paste food. At the beginning, just scoop a little food on the front of the spoon, gently stretch the spoon out, place it on the tip of the baby's tongue, and then withdraw the spoon. From 7 to 9 months, the baby can be fed with minced food such as porridge, mashed noodles, toasted bread slices, biscuits, fish, whole eggs, liver paste, minced meat, and teething sticks (biscuits).

Around 6 months, you may start to notice signs that your baby is ready to try a wider variety of foods. At this point, the baby can hold his head up on his own and his tongue-sticking reflex has disappeared, which means he can learn to eat foods other than liquids. Your baby will also show interest in what you are eating by keeping his eyes on your food and maybe even reaching out for your plate.

Of course, this doesn't mean your baby will be able to sit down and eat with utensils right away. The complementary food that the baby eats at the beginning is not solid at all. In fact, he should eat semi-liquid food at first, because eating is a skill that requires gradual training to master.

The above is my opinion on this issue. If the baby has any physical health problems, you need to pay attention to timely medical treatment to avoid problems that affect the baby's safety and health. In particular, you need to pay attention to the addition of complementary foods and cooperate with staple foods to ensure the baby's safety. Finally, I wish your baby a healthy and happy growth.
