What causes my baby’s tonsils to become inflamed?

Every baby is an angel. When the baby is unwell, parents will definitely be very worried. The baby's body is very fragile and the immunity is very low. It is easy to be infected by bacteria and induce some diseases. Recently, some mothers reported that their babies showed signs of tonsillitis, but they did not understand what tonsillitis is, nor did they know how to judge what treatment measures to take after their children have this condition. Let’s talk about it today, hoping it will be helpful to everyone.

Tonsils are the largest lymphoid tissue in the pharynx and are peripheral immune organs. During childhood, it is an active immune organ that contains lymphocytes at various stages of development, such as T cells, B cells, and macrophages. Therefore, it not only has humoral immunity, producing various immunoglobulins, but also has certain cellular immunity. These effects are most active between the ages of 3 and 5. As individuals grow and mature, the body's immune organs gradually improve, the immune activity of the tonsils tends to decline, the immune role it plays also decreases, and the tissue itself gradually shrinks.

Tonsils are prone to inflammation when seasons change and temperature changes. Children are especially prone to bacterial growth in the tonsillar crypts after a cold, which can lead to tonsillitis. Whether surgery is needed depends on the situation. Tonsils should be removed in the following situations: when tonsils are excessively enlarged and affect breathing, swallowing and pronunciation functions; when chronic tonsillitis recurs multiple times or is complicated by multiple peritonsillar abscesses, otitis media, and parapharyngeal abscesses; when it causes diseases such as rheumatism and nephritis. Tonsillectomy should not be performed in patients with immunodeficiency or severe systemic illness.

It is recommended that you listen to your doctor's treatment plan.

I hope our explanation today will be helpful to everyone. Tonsils are more active during their development stage. As the activity trend decreases, immunity will also decrease, so it is easy to be infected with diseases. However, if tonsillitis occurs, it must be treated promptly according to the baby's condition. Don’t take it lightly, so as not to delay your baby’s illness. I hope your baby can grow up healthy and happy.
