How to check the baby's neurological development

How to check the baby's neurological development

After a baby is born, the brain and body are in different states of development, and the developmental status of each month is also unknown. Not only the muscles and bones of the body will develop, but also the baby's nerves will develop. But how should we check the fetal neurological development to make sure they are normal? Let's learn how to check neurological development.

If the measured values of height, weight, and head circumference are all low, it means that the child has a comprehensive developmental delay and should consult a pediatrician to confirm whether further examination is needed. If only one of the excellent indicators of height, weight or head circumference is low, it means that the child may have partial developmental delay. Further examination of combined items such as cranial nerves or endocrine system should be conducted to understand whether the child's physical development has been affected.

If the intelligence level is borderline and there is a lack of medical history and physical signs to assist in the diagnosis, it is best to do an intelligence test. For school-age students, intellectual defects can be easily revealed when compared with classmates of the same age. Children who do not admit that their children have problems will eventually come to the doctor for a judgment. If the doctor cannot make a judgment based on clinical manifestations, an intelligence test should be conducted. Therefore, intelligence test is a very important diagnostic tool. The Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale (Binet Scale) and Wechsler Intelligence Scale (Wechsler Scale) are now commonly used.

The following are methods for early intervention of the nervous system of premature infants. First, insist on touching the premature baby within 1 to 2 months after birth, 1 to 2 times a day, each time for about 10 to 15 minutes. During the monitoring period, the massage is mainly performed by medical staff. In the later period of hospitalization and after discharge, the medical staff will teach the mother the specific operation methods and steps, and the baby's mother will continue to massage the premature baby. Second, starting from one month after birth, under the guidance of a doctor, you can develop an intelligence development and training plan for the baby, carry out limb exercises, and use a rich audio-visual environment to promote the baby's perception, movement, and language development, so that the intelligence and nervous system of premature babies can develop as rapidly as full-term babies.

Some neurological diseases are not easy to occur in infants, but if they are not examined and diagnosed, the condition will become more serious in the later stages and will affect the motor function of the fetus. I hope that the above infant neurodevelopmental examination methods can help all parents.
