Treatment of primary nephrotic syndrome in children

Treatment of primary nephrotic syndrome in children

Some children suffer from kidney disease, which seriously affects their physical health. Therefore, when children have this problem, they need timely treatment to ensure their health. Parents should pay more attention to their children's daily symptoms and cooperate with doctors to take good care of their children to ensure treatment. So what is the treatment of primary childhood nephrotic syndrome? Well, let me introduce this issue to you below.

Nephrotic syndrome in children is mainly primary, with the main lesion being increased permeability of the glomerular basement membrane. Clinically, it is often manifested by a series of symptoms such as massive proteinuria, hypoproteinemia, hyperlipidemia, obvious pitting edema of the whole body, and abnormal renal function. In many hospitals, a large amount of hormone shock therapy is still the main means. It is undeniable that some patients have been controlled, but it has also created a group of "fat" patients, especially the "full moon face" that replaced the original innocent and tender "smiley face", which makes people feel distressed!

Long-term use of hormone therapy has another most common hazard. The main function of hormones is to exert an immunosuppressive effect. Long-term use of hormones (such as prednisone, flumethasone, etc.) will reduce the body's immune function, which not only affects the efficacy, but also easily induces infection. Common infections include: acute upper respiratory tract infection, pneumonia, skin infection and urinary tract infection. Some can also cause recurrence of other diseases and spread of infection. It is worth mentioning that the use of corticosteroids often masks the symptoms of infectious diseases, thus causing parents to neglect the infection. Once the medication is improperly used, it will aggravate the condition and even endanger life safety.

Hormones have good sides, but they also have "side effects". Long-term use of hormones can lead to adrenal cortex hypofunction, hypothyroidism, metabolic disorders of lipids or sugars in the body, centripetal obesity (weight gain), full moon face, etc. In fact, most patients are not just obese and full moon face. The side effects of hormones cover all systems of the body, especially when hormones are used in large doses and for a long period of time, side effects are more likely to occur. For example, severe water and sodium retention and edema, and even inhibition of children's growth and development. Therefore, children with nephrotic syndrome who are already using hormone shock therapy must pay close attention to themselves.

The above is what I have introduced to you and my views on this issue. Treatment according to the above methods can well ensure the patient's physical health and avoid dangerous situations in children due to the above reasons, especially avoiding the impact of kidney disease on patients. Finally, I wish the children a speedy recovery.
