What are the methods of postpartum care and newborn care?

Now more and more people pay attention to their habits and care methods. These scientific methods can help us prevent various diseases. After a child is born, he or she will undergo confinement. Of course, there is a set of methods for confinement care and newborn care. We will introduce these methods below.

Postpartum care

1. Pay attention to proper work and rest. Due to the exertion during childbirth, the mother consumes a lot of physical energy and feels very tired after giving birth. Therefore, within the first 24 hours after delivery, the mother should rest in bed, and then she can get up and move around a little indoors. This can promote the discharge of lochia, help the uterus recover as soon as possible, and also help with smooth defecation and urination after delivery. The mother should get enough sleep and rest during the entire postpartum period and should not engage in physical labor. Also, don't lie in bed all day because you are afraid of vaginal pain. This is not conducive to your body's recovery.

2. Pay attention to the nutrition of your diet and avoid overnutrition. This is an important condition for the mother's physical recovery. Eat more soupy foods and pay attention to the reasonable combination of vegetables, meat and fruits. At the same time, don't neglect to supplement enough dairy products!

3. Protect the breasts. After delivery, the baby should be allowed to suckle early to promote early and increased milk secretion, which is also beneficial to the health of the breasts and the contraction of the uterus. You also need to choose the correct breastfeeding posture to prevent nipple diseases. Breastfeed on demand according to the baby's needs, and empty the milk after each feeding; wash the breasts with warm water at least twice a day to keep the breasts clean and hygienic, increase the elasticity of the suspensory ligaments, and prevent breast sagging. Choose a bra that is appropriately tight to give the best support. The breastfeeding period should not be too long. Consider weaning when the child is 10 months old. In addition, new mothers should pay attention to rest, maintain a good spirit, enhance the body's resistance, and reduce the occurrence of mastitis.

4. Pay attention to the hygiene of the perineum. After childbirth, especially during the postpartum period, there is a lot of secretions in the perineum, so special attention should be paid to hygiene. You can rinse the vulva 1-3 times a day with warm water or 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution, keep the perineum clean and dry, and change sanitary pads frequently.

Neonatal care

1. Nursing

After the baby is born, there is still mucus and amniotic fluid in the mouth and nasal cavity. The obstetrician will use an instrument to suck it out to ensure that the baby's nostrils are fully open and can breathe freely.

2. Breastfeeding

Newborns should be fed breast milk immediately after birth. Judging from the production and secretion process of milk, a healthy mother can breastfeed within half an hour after natural delivery.

For inexperienced expectant mothers, they are all quite nervous and worried that they cannot take good care of their children. In fact, there is nothing to be nervous about. As long as they follow the above treatment methods and the above care methods, they can give their baby a healthy body and a more comfortable environment for their development.
