Why are my child's lips red and swollen?

During the cold winter, dry season is a time when diseases are more prevalent. At this time, the child's resistance is relatively weak, and symptoms of varying degrees may occur. Some parents have reported that their children’s lips are red and swollen at this time. What is the cause of this? Next, I will tell you how this situation is caused and how to treat the child.

It may be due to getting angry [this is my personal understanding]. Sudden swelling of the lips is usually caused by allergies. Causes of allergic cheilitis: The lips are the junction of human skin and mucous membrane. The area is not large, but the diseases that may occur are not simple. The most common lip disease is cheilitis, which is characterized by symptoms such as swelling, pain or erosion of the lips. Clinically, there are many types of cheilitis, such as allergic cheilitis, actinic cheilitis, exfoliative cheilitis, glandular cheilitis, granulomatous cheilitis and plasma cell cheilitis, but only the first two have clear causes, and some have no clear causes. However, through observation, we can always find some factors that are related to the onset of the disease or can induce and aggravate the condition, namely allergic reactions, mechanical stimulation, infection factors, nutritional deficiencies, and genetic factors. Symptoms of allergic cheilitis: Allergic cheilitis is caused by contact of the lips or the skin around them with certain irritants. It occurs within hours or days after contact and may cause swelling and blisters of the lip mucosa, and even erosion and scabs, infection and suppuration to form ulcers, affecting eating and speaking.

Treatment

1. If your child's lips are red and dry, you can apply children's toothpaste on them after washing his face in the morning. This can reduce inflammation and reduce heat, and can also achieve the effect of moisturizing and relieving pain. Do not pick or lick the lips, do not touch water, avoid infection, and avoid spicy and irritating foods.

2 Children with dry and red lips should be more careful about their food. They should not eat spicy or irritating foods and should try to eat light food. They should not lick their lips and can only use medicine or apply toothpaste. Cheilitis may not seem to be a big problem, but it affects children's eating. It is better to cure it as soon as possible.

3 Check if the child has eaten anything that he is allergic to. As for children, parents must check their food. If they are allergic, it will be troublesome. The child will suffer and the adult will suffer too. Eat more beans and melons, which are good for children's health, and vegetables to supplement vitamins.

The main reason for children's red and swollen lips may be the dry weather, which causes the children to get angry. It could also be eczema, in which case you should see a doctor. Children with red and swollen lips should stay out of the house, avoid wind and sun, otherwise their lips will be irritated. The already dry lips will become even drier when blown by the wind and exposed to the sun. Drink more water, eat more vegetables, and replenish water and vitamins.
