Impetigo in children is a common skin disease, which can cause great harm to young children. Parents must pay attention to it and take their children to treat the disease as soon as possible. So what are the specific causes of impetigo in children? It is mainly because young children have relatively poor physical constitutions, and their resistance and immunity to bacteria are relatively poor, which leads to the onset of the disease. This requires parents to take good care of their children to avoid bacterial infections. Impetigo, commonly known as yellow sore, is one of the most common staphylococcal infectious skin diseases. It is contagious through contact and spreads rapidly. It is more common in children aged 2 to 8 years old and is often prevalent in kindergartens and primary schools. In my country, the disease begins to appear in April every year, with the peak period being August and September. Generally, there are no systemic symptoms and the disease can be cured through treatment. However, severe cases often have complications such as lymphangitis, lymphadenitis, and even acute glomerulonephritis. This type often occurs in newborns and is also called neonatal impetigo (impetigo neonatorum). It often occurs within 3 months after birth, is highly contagious, and can easily spread among newborns. The disease develops suddenly, the pus cells progress rapidly, and soon affect the whole body. It is often accompanied by a high fever above 39°C, and the children are listless, vomiting, and have diarrhea. If not treated promptly, sepsis or toxemia may be life-threatening. Children are prone to impetigo in hot seasons for three main reasons: First, children's skin is thin and tender, their sebaceous glands are immature, and their skin surface lacks lipid membrane protection, so they have poor resistance to bacteria. Second, the climate is warm and humid, the skin is sweaty, bacteria are easy to multiply, and the skin is easily injured after being soaked in sweat, which opens a gap for bacteria to invade. Third, children are prone to skin diseases such as prickly heat and eczema, and are also prone to secondary impetigo. The incidence of impetigo in children is increasing year by year, and the harm to children is also very terrible. It is necessary to actively treat the disease, avoid eating spicy foods, and pay attention to maintaining clean hygiene habits to reduce bacterial infection and reproduction and reduce the incidence of skin diseases. This is the key factor in avoiding the onset of the disease. |
