1. General treatment

3. Symptomatic treatment

4. Traditional Chinese Medicine

This disease is called exogenous cough in traditional Chinese medicine. Due to different pathogenic factors, it is clinically divided into wind-cold cough, wind-heat cough and real heat asthma. The treatment method is mainly to dispel wind and cold, clear away heat, promote lung function, reduce heat and relieve asthma. It can be combined with clinical syndrome differentiation and treatment.

(1) Wind-cold cough is characterized by sudden, rapid, and frequent coughing, with thin sputum, nasal congestion, clear runny nose, itchy throat, or accompanied by headache, aversion to cold or no fever, slightly white tongue coating, and a floating pulse. Treat with pungent and warm herbs to relieve exterior symptoms, dispel cold and relieve cough. Xingsu San is often used with modifications.

(2) Wind-heat cough is a persistent cough with yellow and sticky sputum, red throat and dry mouth, nasal congestion and runny yellow mucus or accompanied by fever and sweating, a slightly yellowish-white tongue coating, and a floating and rapid pulse. The treatment is to relieve the exterior with pungent and cool properties, promote lung function and relieve cough. Sangju Drink is often used with modifications.

(3) In addition to the above symptoms, children with acute heat-related asthma have a high fever and are also experiencing shortness of breath. The treatment is to clear the lungs, resolve phlegm, reduce adverse effects and relieve asthma. Ma Xing Shi Gan Tang is often used with modifications.
