Measles vaccine reaction

Measles vaccine reaction

When it comes to measles vaccine, perhaps many people know about it, because many friends have actually been vaccinated against measles. The so-called measles vaccine is actually used to fight measles, which most people should be aware of. However, the human body will react after receiving the measles vaccine. So what are the reactions after receiving the measles vaccine? This is a question that many people want to know, mainly because this question often affects everyone's physical health.

We may be vaccinated against many diseases in our lifetime in order to prevent our bodies from being infected with the corresponding diseases. This is necessary for everyone. However, during the injection process of many vaccines and after receiving certain vaccines, our bodies often have some reactions. So, regarding this issue, let’s talk in detail about the reaction after getting the measles vaccine.

Measles vaccine has been used for more than 40 years, and practice has proved that it is a very safe and effective biological product. A few recipients may experience mild local redness, swelling, heat and pain after vaccination. The symptoms are not widespread and usually appear within 24 hours of the injection and last for 2-3 days and disappear on their own.

About 5%-10% of children may develop a short-term low-grade fever and transient rash 6-12 days after vaccination, but the body temperature of those with fever generally does not exceed 38.6℃ and usually returns to normal in 2-3 days, which is often not easily noticed. For some children with high fever, if it lasts for more than 2 days, they can recover quickly by taking some antipyretic and analgesic drugs and symptomatic treatment. The spirit and appetite of children with fever are not affected, and the catarrhal symptoms are not obvious. The rash occasionally appears and is very sparse, mainly on the trunk, and disappears on its own in 1-2 days, and there is no desquamation or pigmentation when the rash subsides.

Children with a history of febrile convulsions may experience febrile convulsions after receiving measles vaccination. Therefore, the fever should be closely monitored and symptomatic medication should be given to ensure that the rectal temperature does not exceed 38.5℃. Continuous observation for 5-7 days can control febrile convulsions. For children with a history of epilepsy, the risk of developing epilepsy after vaccination is slightly increased. They need to continue taking the anti-epileptic drugs they were taking without interruption. A very small number of people may experience allergic reactions after vaccination, which can be treated symptomatically. General reactions and aggravated reactions after vaccination generally do not require treatment.

Through the detailed introduction above, I believe most people should have understood the reactions after getting the measles vaccine. In fact, there are usually many reactions after getting the measles vaccine, but the most common ones are redness and swelling at the injection site. Some people may have low fever symptoms within a few days after the injection. Of course, some people may have high fever symptoms, but these reactions are very normal, so there is no need to worry too much.
