Clinical manifestations of autism in children

Clinical manifestations of autism in children

Autism is actually a relatively common disease in our lives. This disease has a great impact on the patient's life, mainly affecting the patient's social activities. If it is serious, it will also affect some of their own behaviors. As parents, we need to learn more about the symptoms of autism in children so that we can better detect the presence of the disease and provide timely treatment.

The main symptom of autism in children is that they will only be interested in one certain food and ignore the others. Also, when interacting with others, it is very obvious that I am alone, I don’t have many friends, and I am not willing to talk to others.

Autism in children

What is childhood autism? Childhood autism is a syndrome of psychological disorders caused by artificially enclosing children in a relatively fixed and small environment and isolating them from human interaction. It is a pervasive developmental disorder characterized by severe, pervasive impairment of social interaction and communication skills and stereotyped behaviors, interests, and activities. It is a mental and psychological disease with an increasing incidence and increasing attention in modern society.

The main clinical manifestations are as follows:

1. Pathological attachment to certain special objects Children with autism usually develop a special interest in certain objects, such as building blocks, radios, balls, etc., to the point of attachment. They can't let go of these things and can feel satisfied when playing with them. If these items are taken away, they will cry and panic. The child seldom participates in other children's games. Instead, he is happy playing alone and often enjoys himself.

2. Children with stereotyped repetitive movements often insist on repetitive stereotyped game patterns and life activity patterns, resist change, lack variety and imagination, such as repeatedly lining up toys; the sitting position cannot be changed; the place where things are placed cannot be changed; the order of life content must remain the same, etc. The stubbornness to stay the same is one of the key symptoms of autism.

3. Children with interpersonal communication disorders often feel extremely lonely, lack communication with others, and lack emotional connection. For example, newborns do not stay close to their mothers when they are picked up; they react no differently when picked up by relatives or other people at 7-8 months old; children are indifferent to the return and departure of their parents and have no attachment; they treat relatives and strangers the same and do not feel afraid when they are with strangers. Such children lack the ability to gaze into people's eyes, often avoid making eye contact with others, and lack emotional communication with people around them.

4. Language development disorder is one of the most prominent manifestations of this disease. After children become ill, their language generally decreases gradually, and in severe cases, it is completely lacking. Children with this disorder have a low ability to understand language, and often have abnormal language such as stereotypes, repetitions, imitations, and misuse of pronouns (especially using "you" instead of "I" when referring to themselves). Children with this disorder lack abstract concepts, and their thinking processes tend to be compulsive, limited, and poor, and they lack fantasy and imagination. Children with this disorder are unable to use facial expressions, body movements, posture, and tone of voice to interact with others.

5. Children with sensory disorders are slow to respond to auditory and visual stimuli, as if they are "seeing but not seeing" and "hearing but not hearing". He seems not to notice the people or other characters in the surrounding environment, and ignores their words.

The above is an introduction to the symptoms of autism in children. I believe that after reading this, you will have a better understanding of autism in children. Parents should understand more about their children's behavior, which will be beneficial to their children's physical and mental health. They should communicate more with their children so that they know what their children are thinking.
