What to do if your left eye is amblyopia

What to do if your left eye is amblyopia

0~5 years old is the critical period for vision development. During this period, the development of the eyes will be hindered. These things that hinder the development of the eyes include common electronic products, external environment, etc., and now there is a common disease called amblyopia, which often occurs in many infants and young children. For amblyopia, the emphasis is on early detection and early treatment. The earlier the treatment, the faster the recovery. What should I do if I have amblyopia in my left eye?

For amblyopia, the key is prevention and treatment. Although the eyeballs of a newborn baby have normal structure, their functions are very poor. The baby's vision can only gradually mature by looking at things repeatedly and constantly receiving stimulation from external light and objects.

At different stages of a child's development, according to their physiological characteristics, they can receive visual training through outdoor activities, contact with nature, or toys with bright colors and soft tones to promote their development. If there are obstacles in the critical period of visual development before the child is two or three years old, such as refractive errors or some eye diseases, which block the stimulation of the eyes by external light and objects, it will affect the maturity of vision over time and cause amblyopia.

In addition, amblyopia has a certain genetic tendency. If one or both parents have amblyopia, the child is more likely to suffer from the disease. As parents, we should check children's vision as early as possible. If in doubt, go to the hospital for examination in time and do not miss the critical period of eye development. Amblyopia can be treated when the child is around three years old.

To treat amblyopia, you usually need to wear suitable glasses and then conduct amblyopia training. The method is to regularly cover the eye with good vision and force the use of the amblyopic eye to exercise its function.

The key to amblyopia training is perseverance. Parents must not find it troublesome or have the fluke mentality of "a tree will grow straight naturally". At present, hospitals generally use afterimage method, red eye stimulation method and other methods to treat amblyopia and have achieved certain results.

The effect of amblyopia treatment is closely related to the treatment age. The younger the age, the better the treatment effect. It is most appropriate to carry out amblyopia training for preschool children aged three or four. If this opportunity is missed, it will be difficult to treat when they are 12 years old because their visual development has matured. If they enter adulthood, it is basically hopeless to treat amblyopia.
