Neonatal stem cell storage

Neonatal stem cell storage

Stem cells are primitive cells that have the potential for self-repair and multidirectional differentiation and form various tissues and organs in the human body. With the improvement of living standards, people pay more and more attention to physical health issues, so various medical research has been developed. Preserving newborn stem cells is an emerging technology. Prepare for future diseases by preserving stem cells in your baby's umbilical cord blood.

1. With the continuous development of medical technology and clinical research, scientists have discovered that stem cells exist not only in human bone marrow, but also in the perinatal tissues (placenta, umbilical cord and umbilical cord blood) of newborns. At present, more than 10 stem cell drugs have been approved worldwide, including: cartilage damage, bone repair, acute myocardial infarction, acquired hematopoietic system diseases, degenerative arthritis, anal fistula, childhood GvHD, corneal injury, acute anti-host response, etc. In addition, as of June 30, 2016, there were more than 5,800 stem cell clinical studies registered with the National Institutes of Health in the United States, involving more than 140 different diseases. The number of clinical studies has increased by more than 600% in 10 years, which shows that the application areas and prospects of stem cells are becoming increasingly broad.

2. In the perinatal tissues of newborns, stem cells from the placenta account for 85% to 90%, stem cells from umbilical cord blood account for only 5%, and stem cells from the umbilical cord account for the remaining 5% to 10%. A type of multifunctional stem cell, mesenchymal stem cells, can be isolated in large quantities from the placenta. Among the more than 10 stem cell drugs approved worldwide, most are related to mesenchymal stem cells. Mesenchymal stem cells are widely used in a variety of diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, nervous system disease, bone tissue disease, autoimmune disease, post-transplantation GVHD, etc., because of their ability to differentiate into a variety of tissue cells, strong immunoregulatory effects, and low immunogenicity. Scientific research has confirmed that allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells do not require matching, and the closer the blood relationship, the better the therapeutic effect. They can be used multiple times by the whole family and are a health guarantee for the entire family.

3. The main purpose of collecting the placenta is to preserve the mesenchymal stem cells inside. The collection and extraction will not cause any harm to the baby and the mother, and it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the child. These stem cells can be stored and taken out whenever needed, and the baby can keep them for himself, benefiting the whole family. With the rapid progress of stem cell science and more and more clinical applications of stem cells, newborn stem cell storage will become a new option for more family protection and family health. Preserving the placenta is undoubtedly a double life insurance for the baby and the whole family.
