Newborn baby belly button bleeding

Newborn baby belly button bleeding

If a newborn baby has bleeding in the navel half a month after birth, you should pay attention to it, as it may be related to inflammation of the navel after the baby is born. It may be simple bleeding. At this time, anti-inflammatory treatment should be carried out in time. The navel area should be kept clean and dry at ordinary times. Care must be strengthened in this regard. If the situation is serious, disinfection should be carried out in time. Let’s take a look at this aspect.

Newborn baby belly button bleeding

1. The mother should first observe whether there is redness or swelling around the baby's navel. If there is just a little bleeding, it is not a big problem. Sometimes it may be caused by improper care, because the friction of clothes or quilts may break the blood clot that has just formed on the navel, causing navel bleeding. At this time, parents should take good care of the baby's belly button. The clothes and quilts for your baby must be soft.

2. If there is still bleeding in the baby's navel, it means there is inflammation. It is recommended to apply iodine tincture frequently locally and cover it with gauze. At the same time, actively cooperate with local disinfection to observe whether the situation improves, and keep warm to prevent infection.

How to deal with bleeding in the navel of a newborn baby half a month old

1. Navel bleeding or moisture caused by incomplete umbilical cord detachment can easily lead to chronic inflammation and hyperplasia of granulation tissue, forming umbilical polyps or umbilical granulation tissue. If it persists for 2 to 3 weeks and does not subside, medical means must be used to destroy the granulation tissue. The entire treatment process generally takes 5 to 7 days, during which time the granulation tissue will dry up and fall off.

2. The basic principle of newborn umbilical cord care is to keep the area dry and clean and avoid contamination by excrement. Specifically, you can use a sterilized cotton swab dipped in warm water, or 75% alcohol to clean the navel after taking a bath every day. When wiping, you need to wipe from the base of the navel in a spiral motion to the surrounding areas, then cover it with sterilized gauze and secure it.

3. Every time you change the diaper, check whether the newborn's navel is dry. If it is very damp, take 95% alcohol and wipe it again as above. Once dry, the umbilical cord will fall off easily and will not be easy to breed bacteria. After the umbilical cord falls off, just keep the newborn's navel dry and free of inflammation. There is no need to pay special attention to the parts that have not fallen off. On the contrary, pulling them hard will cause bleeding and should be strictly avoided.

4. If you find granulation tissue, purulent secretions, redness, swelling or bad smell at the base of the navel, it means there is an infection. You should see a doctor as soon as possible to prevent sepsis.

The question of why the baby's navel bleeds 10 days after birth has been answered above. It is mainly due to improper care that causes the baby's navel to be infected, or the tail of the umbilical cord is touched and not allowed to fall off naturally. If your baby's belly button bleeds, you must not take it lightly. It must be treated promptly to avoid belly button infection. When mothers change their baby's diaper or bathe their baby, they must pay attention to the baby's belly button. It must not be touched or get wet.
