There is a bump on the baby's head

If a child has a lump on the top of his head, parents should pay attention and observe whether the lump continues to grow. Generally speaking, this is a benign tumor, the most common of which is fibroma or subcutaneous lipoma. If the condition is serious, you can go to the hospital for examination and then undergo surgery. In addition, lipomas can also be treated through laser surgery.

There is a bump on the baby's head

The lump under the child's scalp may be a subcutaneous lipoma or fibroma, which is a common benign tumor. An experienced doctor can basically make a preliminary judgment through palpation. I don't think it is necessary to do a CT scan, and a CT scan cannot confirm the nature of the subcutaneous tumor.

If you are worried, go to the general surgery department of the hospital and have an ultrasound examination if necessary. However, it is difficult to determine the nature of the tumor through these examinations. As long as the tumor does not grow, there is no need to be too nervous.

Lipoma laser surgery

1. Preoperative preparation

Lasers have a variety of uses in clinical resection, including surgical-like incision and photoablation. Depending on the characteristics of the tumor, a micro-incision can be used to cut the skin (either with a laser or a conventional scalpel), and then a Nd:YAG laser blade can be used to enter through the small incision to cut the lipoma into lobes and remove it with forceps. Surgical preparation depends on the size of the tumor, but must be performed under strict aseptic technique. Smaller lipomas are often treated with a venous incision kit (containing 2 hemostatic forceps, 1 needle holder, 1 short flat forceps, 1 pair of 5mL empty needles, 1 scalpel handle, sutures and round and triangular suture needles, etc., and dressings including gauze, cotton balls, and 1 drape). For larger lipomas, two skin forceps, a retractor, several hemostatic forceps, and a disinfected middle and abdominal sheet should be prepared for use.

Anesthesia: Local infiltration anesthesia is commonly used during surgery. Anesthetic solution can be injected more around the tumor. It plays a positive role in protecting tissues during laser peeling. 0.5-1% lidocaine is commonly used, and do not add epinephrine.

2. Surgical procedures

Nd:YAG laser micro-incision lobectomy for lipoma is used to remove lipomas less than 10 cm. Features: It treats complex and special anatomical parts, such as the neck, face and functional joints. The scars left after the operation are extremely slight, which is especially effective for facial and neck beauty, and the functional joints do not change much. After local infiltration anesthesia, a scalpel is used to make an incision of 0.5 to 1 cm along the skin grain until it reaches the subcutaneous tissue. The epidural needle is sterilized with Nd:YAG laser and inserted into the incision to make an orange-slice-like subcutaneous incision. The base is separated with a laser knife in the same way. During lobectomy, be careful not to damage the tissue outside the lipoma with the laser knife. Since laser cutting of lipomas is faster, the laser knife does not need to extend beyond the tumor during the operation. The leaf cutting is completed. Use sterile large curved hemostatic forceps to enter the incision and gradually remove it. After the main tumor is removed, use vascular forceps to lightly clamp the cavity wall to remove residual fat tissue, or use hemostatic forceps to clamp gauze and enter the cavity to remove fat. After the operation, incisions smaller than 0.5 cm do not need to be sutured, while incisions larger than 1 cm only need 1 to 2 stitches. The surgical wound was bandaged with multiple layers of gauze for pressure.
