The spinal cord is the channel connecting the central nervous system and the peripheral nerves, and is a key communication station for transmitting brain commands to various parts of the body. For example, when the brain sends instructions to tell us to eat, pick up things, exercise, etc., the instructions must be transmitted through the spinal cord to the corresponding nerves before they can be sent. It may cause paralysis, urinary and bowel problems, pain in the injured area, muscle spasms, pressure sores (bedsores), autonomic nervous system disorders, heterotopic ossification, and difficulty breathing.

People's lives are inseparable from computers for work, surfing the Internet, and playing games. Moreover, they generally use computers for long periods of time and lack activity. You need to twist your head and waist when looking at the screen. Long-term posture inertia will cause rotation and scoliosis of the spine, which will cause illness over time.

Looking down at the phone or reading

It is unavoidable to lower your head while working, but people still look down at their phones or read for a long time outside of work. When the time you lower your head exceeds the time you raise your head every day, the physiological curvature of the cervical spine will become straight and hyperextension.

Lying down for lunch break

Many office workers with tight working schedules like to take a nap at their desks during the short lunch break.

In fact, this lunch break habit cannot relieve fatigue. On the contrary, it will aggravate the damage to the spine and back muscles. Over time, it can lead to spinal diseases, back pain, numbness in the arms and other symptoms. This is because lying down distorts the normal physiological curvature of the spine and incorrectly stretches the back muscles, compressing the shoulder and arm nerves, resulting in poor blood circulation to the entire spine, back and upper arms. If you get cold, the condition will be aggravated. The correct posture for a nap is to lie down flat. Of course, many conditions do not allow this. In this case, you can sit on a chair, put a cushion behind your waist, lean your body back slightly, and put a cushion between your neck and the chair to prevent your head and neck from leaning back too much.

Cross your legs

It is very comfortable to cross your legs, but if you cross your legs all the time, it will cause obvious damage to the pelvis, hip joints, lumbar spine and muscles on both sides of the lumbar spine. This is mainly due to uneven force on the lumbar muscles caused by crossing your legs. It is more civilized to maintain a correct sitting posture. If it is difficult to correct it for the time being, or you always cross your legs unconsciously, then change the direction from time to time. Alternating between left and right will cause less damage to the spine than crossing one side all the time.
