What are the dangers of enema for children?

Enema is very harmful to the physical development of children. It will not only reduce the child's immune ability, but also stimulate the gastrointestinal digestive function of the child, causing dysfunction of the probiotics in the child's intestines, thus causing diarrhea. Furthermore, enema is a painful experience for children, and letting children endure this too early is not conducive to their physical and mental development.

Enema is the process of injecting liquid through the rectum to the colon. The clinical purposes of enema include cleaning the intestines; diluting toxins in the intestines, thereby reducing the absorption of toxins; cooling (low-temperature liquids can cool patients with high fever); intestinal medication (intestinal swelling, inflammation), etc.

When people talk about giving an enema to a baby with a fever, it should be the administration of a small dose of medication into the rectum.

Let's take a brief look at fever: also known as pyrogen, it is the direct effect of pyrogens on the body temperature regulation center, producing heat quickly and dissipating heat slowly, which eventually leads to increased body temperature. For temperatures below 38.5℃, physical cooling and drinking plenty of water are recommended. When the temperature exceeds 38.5℃, use drugs to cool down correctly to avoid convulsions and seizures in children. There are many types of pyrogens, including common bacteria, viruses, mycoplasma, chlamydia, etc. (antibiotics are only needed when there is a bacterial infection). Fever is first caused by a weak constitution, which leads to relatively strong pyrogens, resulting in a fever. However, fever is definitely not as useless as everyone thinks. When the body temperature rises to a certain level, it will burn bacteria and viruses to death. After several rounds of increased body temperature, bacteria and viruses will soon be unable to bear it. A common cold is this process. The body improves its own immunity through fever. This is the reason for fever. Therefore, there is no need to panic when facing a fever.

When a child has a fever, several members of the family start to worry. In fact, there are many ways to reduce fever. My opinion on enema is reserved. It is rare to see doctors prescribe enema for children in large hospitals. Enema also has its disadvantages. The amount and speed of intestinal absorption of drugs are indeed difficult to control.

Everyone thinks that the child's illness will be cured after an enema, and they will not feel uncomfortable anymore. They all accept it very happily, but they don't know what medicine they have been given. In fact, this is the most important thing!

How can we be a qualified parent? When taking care of a sick family member, we must know the name of the medicine, how to use the medicine, the effect of the medicine, and the adverse reactions of the medicine. We don't have to understand it as professionally as a doctor, as long as we have a superficial understanding.
