Why do babies strain before urinating?

Sometimes the baby's health condition cannot be reflected directly on the body, but is reflected through some small details of the body. Therefore, in daily life, parents will pay close attention to observe some abnormalities in their children's bodies. Some babies may strain before urinating, which is cause for concern. So, why do babies strain before urinating? Let’s take a look at the reasons below.

The baby has to struggle to urinate and defecate, the stool is not dry, and the urine is slightly yellow. It is considered that urination and defecation are caused by pain in the genitals, such as local inflammation. In addition, the baby's vitamin D deficiency leads to calcium deficiency. It is recommended to check your baby's blood routine, urine routine and stool routine to rule out urinary tract infection and digestive tract infection. Let your baby drink more water and eat intestinal probiotics. Continue to give your baby vitamin D, such as Icosin, and intermittent calcium supplements, such as calcium carbonate granules once every other day.

Five types of abnormal urination

From birth to one month after birth, the baby has not yet adapted to the external environment, has an irregular diet, and has residual substances accumulated in the mother's body in its intestines, so abnormal urination is likely to occur. When abnormal urination occurs, mothers should pay attention to distinguish whether it is caused by pathological or physiological factors.

Decreased urine volume: If the mother finds that the baby's urine volume has decreased significantly, analyze the cause immediately. The younger the baby, the more immature their urine concentration and reabsorption functions are. If it is caused by lack of water, the mother does not need to worry, just give the baby enough water. If the baby's urine volume decreases due to vomiting or diarrhea, a large amount of water may be excreted from the body, causing dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. Take your child to see a doctor in time.

Excessive urination: If the baby urinates very frequently, the mother should observe whether there is an increase in urine volume. If the urine volume also increases at the same time, it is often due to physiological reasons and there is no need to worry. If urination is frequent but the urine volume does not increase, it may be pathological and you should take your baby to consult a doctor in time.

Red urine: The urine of a newborn is transparent light yellow, but some babies' urine may appear turbid reddish brown or even contain hematuria. Mom and Dad always get very panicked when they see this situation. In fact, this is mostly caused by urate crystals in the urine. Parents don’t need to panic or provide any special care. Generally, the baby will recover on its own in about 3 days.

If your baby takes vitamin B, berberine or other drugs to treat certain diseases, your baby's urine may also turn orange.

If the baby has continuous hematuria for more than 3 days, it may be a congenital urinary tract malformation, then the baby needs to be taken to the doctor in time.

Yellow urine: The depth of your baby’s urine color is closely related to the amount of water you drink and the amount of sweat you excrete. If the baby drinks more water and sweats less, the urine volume will be larger and the urine will be light and transparent; if the baby drinks less water, sweats more or has a fever, the urine volume will decrease, the color will turn dark yellow, and it will have a stronger odor.

If your baby's urine is yellow, and his skin, whites of the eyes, etc. are also yellow, it may be caused by neonatal jaundice and needs to be diagnosed by a doctor.

Urine turns white: Baby's urine usually turns white in the cold winter, and there is often white precipitation. This is often caused by an increase in urate in the urine. The white precipitate is urate crystals. If some acid, such as glacial acetic acid, is added to the urine, the crystals will dissolve quickly and the urine will immediately become clear and transparent.

If the baby's urine is not only white, but also turbid or has a special foul odor, and is accompanied by frequent and urgent urination, and cries while urinating, it is very likely that the baby has a urinary tract infection and has formed pyuria. At this time, you should take your baby to see a doctor in time.
