White bumps on baby's gums

White bumps on baby's gums

Babies are a treasure in the hearts of their parents. Parents have paid special attention to their children's health since childhood. The most important thing to pay attention to during infancy is the development of teeth, because the development of teeth in childhood has a great impact on the future. But some babies have white bumps on their gums, and many parents don’t know what those are. Many parents will choose to remove them by themselves when they see this, but in fact this kind of thing is very common and has little effect on children’s tooth development.

This condition in babies is called milk teeth. White substances as big as rice grains appear on the baby's gums and look very similar to teeth. The older generation's customary practice is to remove them manually. However, what they don't know is that milk teeth in babies must never be picked, because picking the gums can lead to secondary infection or even sepsis.

Milk teeth are small yellow-white dots that appear 4-6 weeks after a child is born. They look very much like teeth, so they are called "milk teeth". The white bumps on the baby's gums are formed by the accumulation of desquamated epithelial cells. "Primary teeth" are not a disease. They do not affect the baby's breastfeeding and the development of deciduous teeth. They will gradually fall off within a few months after birth. Some babies have malnutrition, and their "prince teeth" cannot fall off in time. This is not a big deal and does not require treatment. Thrush is caused by infection with Candida albicans, which forms a white mucous membrane inside the mouth ulcer, which looks very similar to horse teeth, so many people cannot distinguish between horse teeth and thrush. Here I will teach parents how to distinguish them:

Causes:

Milk teeth are a symptom that occurs during the development of deciduous teeth, but not every child will encounter this situation. This symptom may be caused by malnutrition or poor oral hygiene in children.

Thrush is caused by Candida infection. Because children have weaker resistance when they are born, if the mother is infected with fungi, they will be infected, or if the milk bottle is unhygienic. Therefore, mothers must pay attention to their own and their babies' hygiene and take careful precautions.

the difference:

Although both thrush and ivory dot are manifested by white spots on the oral mucosa, the biggest difference between the two is that ivory dot can fall off automatically. The ivory dot may fall off automatically while the child is breastfeeding. However, thrush will not go away. If it is serious, it may cause large-scale infection, become more and more serious, and even damage the child's lungs.

Warm reminder: The appearance of milk teeth or thrush will cause oral discomfort in children and affect the baby's appetite, so parents should do a good job of cleaning the baby and manage personal hygiene.
