2 months old baby milk powder

After the baby is born, as the baby's age increases, the amount of milk will slowly increase. Parents usually need to observe carefully at this time and must feed scientifically. Incorrect feeding methods can easily cause abnormalities in the baby's health. Generally speaking, the amount of milk a 2-month-old baby eats is different from that of a one-month-old baby. However, some novice parents do not know how much milk powder a 2-month-old baby should eat.

A two-month-old baby should be fed 5 to 6 times a day, once every four hours, with 150 to 200 ml of milk each time. The stomach capacity of a newborn baby is very small, about 100 ml at two months, and the amount of gastric juice secretion is small. The gastric emptying time varies with the type and nature of food. For breastfeeding, the gastric emptying time is 2 to 3 hours, for milk feeding it is 3 to 4 hours, and for water it is 1 to 2 hours.

In the first few days after the baby is born, the amount of milk can be calculated based on the baby's weight per kilogram, and 100 to 200 ml should be given per day. Because milk is not easy to digest, it needs to be diluted with water. The ratio can be 4:1, 3:1, 3:2, 2:1, or 1:1. If two parts of milk are mixed with one part of water, it will be 300 (360) ml of milk + 150 (160) ml of water, with a total of 450~480 ml. Divide it into 7~8 doses, with each dose being 60~70 ml. Add 5% sugar to the milk, and increase this proportion at five and six months. From 15 days to one month old, if the digestion is normal, the baby can eat pure milk, nearly 100-150 ml per kilogram of body weight, and about 60-100 ml per meal.

What to do if your two-month-old baby has low milk supply

If the baby is too young, he should be fed small and frequent meals to prevent him from spitting up milk. In order to make your baby grow better, you can choose milk powder that is nutritionally comprehensive, reasonable, easy to digest, easy to absorb, and does not cause irritation to increase your baby's nutrition. Also, if you feed your baby too little each time and too often, it will cause gastrointestinal discomfort to the baby. It usually takes about three hours for the stomach to be completely emptied, so you can feed your baby every three to three and a half hours. If the baby wants to sleep while feeding, the mother can pinch his little ears and little face to wake him up and continue eating. This way, the baby will naturally eat a little more at each meal.

What to do if your two-month-old baby doesn't like to drink milk

As long as the baby's weight increases normally, there will be no impact and there is no need to worry. The child is developing normally and is very energetic. It's just that the amount of milk is temporarily reduced. Pay attention to the feeding method and time, and do not change milk frequently. Usually, the appetite will recover naturally in about a month.

Although babies at this stage eat less, most are still able to maintain their normal growth, and there is no evidence that this will affect their intellectual development. Therefore, parents can evaluate their baby's growth based on the growth curve. If the baby does not deviate from the normal growth curve, they can just let nature take its course.

If your baby's milk aversion period lasts too long, you cannot simply wait for him to recover naturally. Because the human stomach is an elastic bag, if you don't stretch it often, you will gradually get used to not feeling hungry. Some children initially have physiological anorexia, and gradually their weight stops increasing appropriately. On the growth curve, their weight percentile drops by two curves, or falls below the third percentile. This is called "growth retardation" and is considered pathological anorexia. It must be evaluated by a doctor and actively supplement nutrition.
