Nine-month-old baby's low intelligence

Nine-month-old baby's low intelligence

Although babies' development times are different, some are early and some are late, but if it is too late, mothers need to consider whether there are some problems with the baby's IQ. For example, abnormal crying, excessive sleeping, and difficulty in waking up. The expression is dull and not very expressive. The baby's language and motor skills lag behind those of the same age. Lack of interest in the people or environment around you, unwillingness to interact with others, and slurred speech are all manifestations of intellectual disability and require attention.

Mental retardation (MR) refers to the situation in which children's intelligence and motor development are significantly lower than the normal level of the same age during their growth period, making it difficult for them to adapt to the requirements of the objective environment. Experts point out that if infants under one year old have one or more of the following abnormal manifestations, it is highly likely to indicate MR:

What are the symptoms of mental retardation in infants?

1. Abnormal crying, that is, the time from stimulation to crying is long, sometimes repeated or continuous stimulation is required to induce crying, or the crying is sharp or small and weak.

2. Sleeping too much makes it difficult to wake up.

3. Babies who are over 100 days old cannot hold their head up or have difficulty turning their head, and one or both eyes are constantly looking inward or outward.

The baby only has a smiling expression at 4.3 to 4 months old, and the expression is dull. By 6 months old, there is no natural smile.

5. The actions of looking at and playing with hands still persist at six months old.

6. Slow reaction. At 6 months old, the baby cannot focus on slowly moving objects above the face, cannot turn the head in the direction of the sound, cannot turn over in either direction, and cannot sit steadily without adult help.

7. After 9 months, the child still drools frequently and grinds his teeth when awake.

8. By 9 months old, the baby cannot actively reach out to take things, and cannot use his legs to support weight when supported by an adult.

9. Language development is delayed. By 10 months old, the baby cannot babble and his pronunciation is not clear.

10. Lack of interest in people and environment around, dislike of interacting with others, and lack of emotional attachment.

11. The earliest signs of mentally retarded children are that they often have difficulty feeding, sometimes cannot suck, and are prone to spitting up milk. They often sleep for a long time, are very quiet all day, and rarely cry.

12. Normal children will smile at their mothers 4-6 weeks after birth, but children with intellectual disabilities often won’t smile until 3 months old.

13. It takes longer than normal children to master various movements (such as sitting, standing, walking, and talking);

14. Not interested in the surroundings and not looking at the things around;

15. Children with intellectual disabilities cry sharply or weakly, and their tone lacks variation. When external stimuli cause crying, the period from the start of the stimulus to the onset of crying is relatively long, and only repeated stimulation of the four factors will cause crying;

16. Not interested in toys and will not play with toys even if they are presented to him; from sleeping a lot when he was a child, he has changed to being active all day long, and his activities have no purpose.
