Does pediatric massage have any side effects?

Massage is very good for the human body, but there is a limit. Side effects should not be caused by massage. Many people give massage to others for the first time. If the degree is not used correctly or the method is not used correctly, it may cause bruises, even subcutaneous bleeding and skin damage to the patients. Special attention should be paid to it in normal times.

Although massage is good for the body, there must be a limit. In severe cases, subcutaneous bleeding, fractures, etc. may occur. Massage is simple, safe, comfortable and easy to be accepted by people. However, if you do not pay attention to the massage method and part, it may cause the patient to suffer unnecessary pain or make the operation difficult. The most common hazards include fainting, skin breaks, subcutaneous hemorrhage, and fractures.

1. Syncope

Fainting during massage may mainly be caused by the patient being too nervous, weak, tired or hungry, or by the massage being too heavy or lasting too long. Once the patient faints, the massage should be stopped immediately. Let the patient lie flat in a well-ventilated place with the head kept low. After rest, the patient will generally recover naturally. If the patient is severely fainted, you can use methods such as pinching the Ren Zhong point, holding the Jianjing point, Hegu point, and pressing the Yongquan point to revive him/her, and you can also use acupuncture and other methods to cooperate. If the syncope is caused by hypoglycemia, the patient can be given some sugar water to drink.

2. Broken skin

When using the rubbing method, improper operation may sometimes cause the patient's skin to be damaged. At this time, some surgical treatment should be performed, and operations on the damaged area should be avoided to prevent infection. When not using the rubbing method, do not rub hard.

3. Subcutaneous hemorrhage

Massage generally does not cause subcutaneous bleeding. If the patient's local skin appears cyanotic, it may be because the massage technique is too heavy or the patient has a disease that is prone to bleeding. If subcutaneous bleeding occurs, massage should be stopped immediately. The bleeding will usually stop on its own. After 2-3 days, local massage can be performed or wet compresses can be used to gradually eliminate the bleeding.

4. Fracture

If the massage technique is too heavy or rough, the patient is prone to fractures. Patients suspected of having fractures should be diagnosed and treated immediately. When massaging children or the elderly, the technique should not be too heavy. When performing joint movements, the techniques should be gradually increased from light to heavy, and the range of motion should be gradually increased from small to large (not exceeding the normal physiological range), and attention should be paid to the patient's tolerance to avoid causing fractures.
