How to treat fern eyes in children?

When children are growing up, parents must carefully observe whether there are any changes in their children's bodies. Some children have fern eyes. Generally, the early treatment of this disease requires antibiotic eye drops and eye ointments, and hot compress treatment. If hot compress cannot effectively relieve the symptoms, it is best to perform surgery as soon as possible. Pay attention to eye care after surgery and do daily maintenance.

Fern eye is actually what we often call hordeolum. Stye is also known as hordeolum, commonly known as "stye", which is more common in young people. This disease is stubborn and prone to relapse, and in severe cases may leave eyelid scars. Stye is divided into two types: internal hordeolum and external hordeolum.

There are two kinds of glands in the eyelids. The sebaceous glands at the root of the eyelashes open into the hair follicles. The meibomian glands are buried in the tarsal plates near the junctional membrane and open into the eyelid margins. Stye is an acute suppurative inflammation of these two glands. The bacteria that cause styes are mostly Staphylococcus aureus. If you do not pay attention to eye hygiene and wipe your eyes with unclean towels, handkerchiefs, etc., the bacteria will invade the eyelid glands. When the body's resistance is weakened (such as malnutrition, lack of sleep or diabetes, etc.), the disease is likely to occur.

Prevention of styes is also important:

1. Pay attention to rest. Do not watch TV, use the computer, or do homework for too long. Increase sleep and avoid excessive fatigue.

2. Pay attention to eye hygiene, keep your eyes clean, and do not rub your eyes with dirty hands or dirt.

3. Actively treat chronic eye inflammation.

4. Check for refractive error. For recurring styes, you should pay attention to check for refractive error. If you have refractive error, it should be corrected in time.

Stye, also known as sty, can usually heal on its own, but why did the stye suffered by Lele cause such serious consequences? Lele’s mother was puzzled. "In fact, the child has a chalazion, not a stye, and the mother's treatment method is only effective for stye," said an expert. Chalazions and styes are quite similar. Both are hard lumps on the eyelids, and the two are easily confused. Every year, many parents mistake chalazions for stye holes, delaying their children's timely treatment.

In fact, if you observe carefully, there are still differences between the two. Stye is an inflammation caused by bacteria, so its initial symptoms include redness, swelling, pain and excessive secretions in the eyes. Chalazion is an inflammatory granuloma caused by obstruction of the meibomian gland outlet and retention of secretions. In the early stages, a soybean or mung bean-sized nodule can be felt on the skin near the eyelid, with no obvious pain symptoms. However, as the disease progresses, if it is not treated in time, secondary infection will occur, and symptoms similar to stye, such as redness, swelling and pain, will appear. Unlike styes which can heal on their own, the symptoms of chalazions will only get worse, and in severe cases the lump may rupture on the skin.

To sum up, whether a child with stye receives timely treatment or not can cause great harm to the patient's body, so everyone must pay attention to the disease of stye. After suffering from stye, it must be treated in time. The purpose of doing so is to avoid the occurrence of such complications and cause greater harm to the patient.
