What to do if your one-year-old baby has conjunctivitis

Conjunctivitis is a common problem in life. It is more common in women and children. Many children are prone to conjunctivitis shortly after birth, which is closely related to the child's body immunity. The treatment for conjunctivitis in babies is different from that for adults, and medications must be used with caution. So what should we do if a one-year-old baby has conjunctivitis?

1. Antibiotic treatment

The one-year-old child currently has conjunctivitis and needs timely treatment. Care should be taken to prevent the child from watching TV or computers for a long time, and towels and other items should also be disinfected. Bacterial infections can usually be treated with antibiotic ointment or eye drops, and symptoms usually disappear within 1 week of taking the medication. Severe bacterial infections require oral antibiotics or antibiotic injections and usually take six weeks to fully recover.

2. Pay attention to hygiene

A one-year-old baby shows symptoms of conjunctivitis. Parents must pay attention to hygiene when taking care of the baby. They should wash their hands before caring for the baby. Because the baby is still young and has low immunity, it is easy to cross-infect. Parents should pay attention to the hygiene of the baby's hands and eyes, and disinfect the baby's face basin and towel with boiling water every day to prevent infection.

3. Note

During the illness, the baby's diet must be light. The baby can eat more vegetables and fresh fruits, and keep the bowel movements unobstructed. The baby's eyes must not be covered, otherwise the secretions in the eyes cannot be discharged, which will aggravate the condition. Parents should wash their hands well when caring for their babies. If the baby has conjunctivitis, Tobrex eye drops can be used. When applying eye drops to the baby, hands must be disinfected to prevent bacteria.
