Do all babies get roseola infantum?

Do all babies get roseola infantum?

In fact, pediatric emergencies are very common in the world. Pediatric emergencies are acute febrile and rash diseases of the respiratory tract, which are not infectious diseases. After a young child has an emergency, the baby will suddenly have a high fever, diarrhea, runny nose and other unusual behaviors, so parents can judge the child's physical condition based on these symptoms.

What is Roseola Infantitis?

Roseola infantum, also known as infant roseola, milk rash or sixth disease, is common in infants under 2 years old and is particularly common in healthy babies aged 6-12 months. Roseola infantum is caused by infection with human exanthema virus types 6 and 7. It is an acute febrile exanthematous disease of the respiratory tract. It is usually transmitted through saliva brought out of the respiratory tract. Close contact can transmit the disease, but it is not an infectious disease.

What are the symptoms of roseola infantum?

1. It is often a sudden high fever, with the body temperature rising to above 39℃~40℃. The high fever may be accompanied by convulsions in the early stage, and the fever will continue for three to four days.

2. Compared with children with colds and fever, except for lack of appetite, there is no obvious change in their mental state. However, a small number of children experience nausea, vomiting, cough, tympanic membrane inflammation, swelling around the mouth and hematuria.

3. When the fever is high, most children will have diarrhea, loose stools, and rarely runny nose and cough.

4. After 3 to 5 days of fever, the fever will suddenly drop and the body temperature will return to normal within 24 hours. A rash will appear at the same time or later when the fever subsides. The rash is red maculopapular, fades when pressed, and rarely fuses.

5. The rash starts from the abdomen and then spreads to the neck, face, torso and whole body. The rash appears in one day and disappears in 3 days without leaving any trace on the skin.

How to deal with it?

1. Keep the room quiet and the air fresh, let the baby rest more, do not cover the baby with too thick or too many quilts, and try not to take the baby out to reduce cross infection.

2. Let your baby drink more boiled water or juice to facilitate sweating and urination.

3. Pay attention to the cleanliness of the skin and wipe off the sweat on the baby's body in time to prevent the baby from catching a cold and the baby's rash from being infected again.

4. If the baby is still breastfeeding, do not interrupt breastfeeding at this time. You can add some water to the baby during breastfeeding. If your baby is already able to eat complementary foods, you can choose to eat some liquid or semi-liquid food.

5. When the baby's body temperature exceeds 39°C, it is best to adopt physical cooling methods. You can also use antipyretics to prevent the baby from having convulsions caused by high fever.

Roseola infantum is likely the baby's first fever and illness, and persistent high fever is a severe test for new mothers. Faced with such a situation, mothers must remain calm, firm in their beliefs, and provide scientific care. Once the baby has survived the roseola, the body's resistance will have another qualitative leap. At the same time, we also hope that every baby can grow up healthy and happy.
