Why do children have difficulty falling asleep?

Children often have difficulty falling asleep. In fact, difficulty falling asleep is a common problem. For example, it may be because parents do not create a good environment or the house is too noisy, or the child is more sensitive to sleep, all of which may lead to difficulty falling asleep.

Some children have difficulty falling asleep because their parents do not create a peaceful sleeping environment for them. For example, if the lights in the room are very bright and after the children go to bed, parents are still working or talking in the room. Normally, children will not be affected by the environment, but for children who have difficulty falling asleep, parents must pay attention to creating an environment suitable for them to sleep.

Children who often have difficulty falling asleep often do not develop regular sleeping habits. Children between the ages of 3 and 6 are playful, curious, and have active minds. From morning to night, they always cannot get enough play. If children can be guaranteed sufficient activity during the day, they will generally go to bed on time at night. The specific circumstances of each child are different. Don't make rigid regulations on your child's sleep time. The more you force your child to sleep, the more counterproductive it will be. Generally, children aged 3 to 4 years old should get about 12 hours of sleep a day; children aged 5 to 6 years old should get about 8 hours of sleep a day. Sleep is a process of alternating excitement and inhibition of the nervous system. If children can develop regular sleeping habits, they will generally fall asleep on their own when it is time to go to bed.

If a child suffers from insomnia, it should be treated in the acute stage as much as possible. Avoid forming habitual insomnia. Insomnia due to physical factors. As long as it is treated in time, it will get better soon. For insomnia caused by psychological factors, in addition to eliminating the negative factors as soon as possible, children should also be given sufficient explanations, reassurances and other psychological support to help them improve their mood. Adopt some methods that help sleep, such as washing the face and soaking the feet with hot water, making some preparations for bed, telling the child relaxing stories or listening to relaxing music, doing some suggestion and relaxation therapy under the guidance of a doctor, etc., trying to make the child calm down and relax within half an hour before bedtime, which will help the child fall asleep.
