Can children eat bananas when they have a fever?

Children usually cry and make a fuss when they have a fever, so many parents will become very submissive to their babies at this time. However, many children like to play with or eat bananas after they have a fever, but parents are concerned about whether children can eat bananas when they have a fever? This issue is not very clear, which often makes parents very embarrassed. In fact, it is best for children not to eat bananas after they have a fever, because bananas are cool in nature.

1. Can babies eat bananas when they have a fever?

Bananas are cold fruits and cool foods that can reduce heat and help gastrointestinal digestion. Eating bananas can effectively improve bloating or constipation. However, it should be noted that people with spleen deficiency, or a weak and cold constitution, or people with cold hands and feet should not eat bananas. It is best to give children less cold food when they have a cold or fever. Therefore, it is best not to eat bananas after the baby has a fever. Bananas promote bowel movements. If the baby also has diarrhea, it is even more inappropriate to eat them.

When treating a baby's fever, in addition to symptomatic treatment and physical cooling, careful care in diet is also necessary. When a baby has a fever, the food he eats should be light, easy to digest, and rich in vitamins. Generally, it is mainly liquid or semi-liquid food, such as rice soup, porridge, noodles, lotus root powder, etc., and is paired with some fresh fruits. Protein is an essential substance for body repair. After your baby’s fever subsides, you can eat semi-liquid foods such as clear chicken soup noodles and vegetable puree porridge. In the later stages of recovery, you can supplement with more high-protein foods such as lean meat, fish, tofu, etc., which will help you recover your health as soon as possible. In addition, it is critical to replenish water after the baby has a fever, but you cannot drink boiled water directly. Because the baby will sweat a lot after the fever subsides, it is necessary to replenish water with electrolyte-containing saline, sugar water, and hydrating salt solution in time.

2. How to help your baby reduce fever by yourself

When your baby's temperature reaches the above fever temperature, use the following gentle (physical) fever-reducing methods to make your baby feel more comfortable:

1. Cold compress method: This method is simple and easy. Apply a cold towel to the forehead. After the towel becomes hot, soak it in cold water and apply it again. Using a cold water bag or ice pack is more effective than applying a cold towel to the forehead.

2. Wipe the whole body with warm water or take a bath: Undress the baby, rub the whole body with a towel in warm water (about 37°C) or take a bath. This can dilate the blood vessels in the baby's skin and dissipate the body's energy. In addition, when water vapor evaporates from the body surface, it also absorbs body heat. Take a bath for about 10 to 15 minutes each time, about once every 4 to 6 hours.

3. Warm alcohol bath: For alcohol bath, mix 70% alcohol with 1/1 tap water, or 75% alcohol with 1/2 water, or you can mix Erguotou liquor with 1/4 water, and put them in a small bowl. Keep doors and windows closed during sponge bath, dip gauze or a soft towel in the alcohol in the bowl, and wipe the child's palms, soles, armpits, inner sides of upper arms, chest and thighs. The diluted water temperature is about 37-40℃, then wipe the limbs and back. If you wipe it directly with alcohol, the child will feel very cold, uncomfortable, or even have convulsions.

4. Wipe with a cool towel: Use a slightly cool towel (about 25 degrees) to wipe your forehead and face.

5. Drink more water: It helps sweating. In addition, water has the function of regulating temperature, which can lower body temperature and replenish water lost in the body.
