Is ADHD in children treatable?

ADHD is a very serious problem for some children nowadays. When many children have ADHD, parents cannot recognize it in time. However, there are many symptoms of ADHD. The most common one is that they obviously feel some intellectual deficiencies and often cannot concentrate seriously. Many parents are very worried. Is ADHD easy to treat?

Behavioral therapy and cognitive therapy are more effective. Before starting treatment, it is necessary to determine the target symptoms for behavioral therapy, such as excessive activity, learning problems, poor relationships with classmates, impulsive or destructive behavior, and low self-esteem. During the implementation process, it is also necessary to combine cognitive therapy techniques, constantly change the treatment plan and teach children to master the techniques to control themselves.

The treatment goals should be chosen appropriately. Generally, core symptoms or serious behavioral problems are selected as treatment goals. If the goals are not chosen appropriately, the treatment will be ineffective or even counterproductive. When establishing "new" goals, you should consider arranging different progress, starting with the simple and easy level, and proceeding step by step without rushing.

Once the new behavior is established, in order to maintain the new acceptable behavior, appropriate rewards or punishments should be given, and the signals of rewards or punishments should be clear so that the child can understand them. At school, the child's condition should be explained to the teacher and the teacher's cooperation should be sought. It is advisable to use role models to set goals for children, arrange appropriate activities during their spare time to give them an outlet for their excess energy, give them praise based on their strengths, and gradually improve their self-confidence and self-esteem. For schools with the conditions, small-class teaching and individual tutoring for children with ADHD is also a reliable method.

Children with ADHD generally have some genetic factors or some neurological disorders. During the treatment process, the main thing is to use psychotherapy and slowly provide counseling to improve their daily lives. Parents should also pay attention and slowly cultivate some good living habits for their children.
