Children's nebulization

Children's nebulization

Nebulization is a very common way to treat children's cough. Compared with other treatment methods, such as taking medicine, injections, infusions, etc., nebulization is easier for children to absorb and the side effects are relatively small. However, people need to pay special attention when doing nebulization for children, because children's bodies are more fragile. So here are some precautions for children when doing nebulization.

What other issues should be paid attention to when nebulizing your baby?

1. Time for nebulizing your baby

Usually, nebulizing the baby should be done 1 to 2 hours after feeding or eating complementary food to prevent nausea or vomiting caused by sputum, aerosol and other stimulations.

2. Selection of nozzle

Because the baby's nasal cavity is relatively narrow and the nasal concha is curved, many atomized particles will stay when passing through the nasal cavity, reducing the amount of medicine reaching the small airways and alveoli, while the oral cavity is obviously much more spacious. In order to achieve the best therapeutic effect, oral inhalation is the best choice for nebulization. It is usually difficult for babies under 3 years old to cooperate with oral inhalation, so it is recommended to choose a mask-type nozzle for nebulizer inhalation.

3. Try not to interrupt

Nebulizer inhalation usually takes 5 to 10 minutes. Try not to stop midway to avoid affecting the treatment effect. If the baby coughs violently or is uncooperative, you can stop inhaling and continue when the baby stops coughing or is in better condition.

4. Parents should be alert if their baby has this symptom

During the nebulization process, parents should pay attention to the baby's condition at all times. If you experience adverse reactions such as dry mouth, nausea, chest tightness, shortness of breath, palpitations, or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention immediately.

5. Do not eat immediately before or after atomization

Baby's nebulizer inhalation is to vaporize the medicine and then inhale it to diffuse it into the respiratory tract and even the lungs, thereby achieving the therapeutic effect. It does not pass through the digestive tract, so it generally does not cause digestive problems. However, in order to allow the drug to fully exert its local effect, try not to eat half an hour before nebulization inhalation, avoid aerosol irritation during nebulization inhalation, and do not let the nebulized liquid enter the eyes. Eat 20 to 30 minutes after nebulization treatment.

The nebulization effect is better when the baby is quiet

Some parents believe that when the baby cries, his mouth is open and he breathes heavily, so he will inhale more medicine than when he is quiet. However, studies have shown that quiet babies inhale more medicine because when babies cry, their exhalation increases and their inhalation decreases, their diaphragm rises, their breathing becomes shallow, and they cannot fully ventilate, which reduces the absorption and utilization of the medicine. Therefore, during treatment, it is more conducive to the absorption of the drug and to achieve the ideal treatment effect to make the baby happy and calm.
