How to deal with tinnitus

1. After a haircut, broken hair falls into the ear canal. Since one end can touch the eardrum, you will hear a sound similar to that of a drum when you touch the back of your ear with your hand. After removing the hair, the tinnitus disappears.

2. There will be short-term tinnitus and ear stuffiness when flying on an airplane, climbing a mountain, or getting angry. This is caused by negative pressure in the middle ear. The structure connecting the middle ear and the nasal cavity is called the Eustachian tube. Many people have similar experiences. Pinch the nose to blow air, open your mouth and lift your chin, press the tragus with your fingers, and the Eustachian tube will be unblocked, and the tinnitus and ear stuffiness will be cured.

3. If someone's tinnitus is pulsating and synchronized with his or her pulse, be careful of glomus jugular tumor. The tumor needs to be removed surgically for the tinnitus to disappear.

4. If someone's tinnitus is accompanied by sensorineural hearing loss or facial paralysis, be careful of acoustic neuroma. In the early stages of acoustic neuroma (generally less than 1 cm), there is no need for craniotomy and gamma knife irradiation treatment is possible. If it is thought to be kidney deficiency or inflammation and diagnosis and treatment are delayed, a larger acoustic neuroma will not only increase the threat to the patient's life, but also increase the risk and difficulty of surgery.
