What should I do if my child has a fish bone stuck in his throat?

Fish meat is a kind of meat that we like to eat very much. It contains a lot of protein, so many parents often buy fish to cook for their children. But what should we do if a child accidentally gets a fish bone stuck in his throat? Sometimes we drink a little vinegar to soften the fish bones and then swallow them, but what should we do if this method doesn’t work? What advice will the doctor give?

Fish is very nutritious and eating it can promote the intellectual development of children. But in the process of eating, you may accidentally get a fish bone stuck in your mouth. This makes adults very worried.

1. Use traditional methods with caution. Generally, when adults are stuck with a fish bone, we drink vinegar, swallow it in big gulps, etc. It is often not suitable for children because many of their organs are still in the development stage. These approaches may backfire.

2. The first thing is to stabilize the child’s emotions. Don't cry too loudly.

3. Stop swallowing any more food. Swallowing food may cause the fish bone to become lodged deeper

4. Adults can use a flashlight to see if they can find the fish bone. If you are sure, you can try to use tools to clamp it out.

5. Go to the hospital to see a doctor to remove the fishbone. The hospital’s tools are professional and can be easily done.

Then, under bright light, let the baby open his mouth as wide as possible, find a flashlight to illuminate the baby's throat, and observe the size and position of the fishbone. If the fishbone can be seen and is easily accessible, parents can use small tweezers, preferably wipe it clean with alcohol cotton, and remove it directly.

When clipping the fishbone out, parents need to cooperate with each other. One person holds the baby's head and illuminates it with a flashlight, while the other person is responsible for clipping out the fishbone. If you cannot see any fish bone in your baby's throat, but your baby has difficulty and pain swallowing, or if you can see the fish bone but it is located deep and difficult to remove, you must take your baby to the hospital as soon as possible and ask the doctor to treat it.

Careful observation should be made within two or three days after the fish bone is removed. If the baby still has symptoms such as sore throat, abnormal eating or drooling, be sure to take the baby to the ENT department of a regular hospital for examination to see if there is any residual foreign body.

So we must be careful when eating fish, especially when babies are eating fish, parents must carefully pick out the fish bones. Otherwise, if the fish bones get stuck in the baby's throat, it will be very painful and the parents will also feel distressed. So everything must be done with caution.
