What to do if children have knee pain?

Children who are in the growing stage often tell their parents about their leg pain. Some children even cry in their sleep because of the severe pain. So when parents hear their children complain about leg pain, they should not take it lightly or take it as an excuse for their children to shirk their responsibilities. This may be a symptom of calcium deficiency in the child's body, or it may be that the child is experiencing growing pains. So, what should parents do at this time?

1. Find out the cause of your leg pain.

First, check the child's legs for signs of injury. The examination must be thorough. Not only should you check for external injuries, but you should also ask the child whether the leg pain was caused by a fall or a bump. If you have ruled out injury as a possible cause, then read on.

2. The reason why children experience leg pain after a lot of exercise is mostly due to "growing pains", which mainly occurs during the period when children grow rapidly. The growth rate of bones is faster than the growth rate of ligaments and other tissues, which will definitely make children feel uncomfortable.

3. If the child is thin and is not in a period of rapid growth, then you should consider that it is caused by "calcium deficiency" and his legs hurt after exercise. This situation is easier to handle.

4. Provide solutions for different situations:

How to deal with the first situation: If the leg pain is caused by an occasional fall, or a minor abrasion, just do anti-inflammatory treatment. If you have a bone injury, you need to see a doctor.

5. How to deal with the second situation: Advise your child to exercise in moderation. If your child exercises so vigorously next time, it will still cause leg pain. In addition, use a hot towel to apply heat to the painful ligaments, knees and other parts of the child.

6. How to deal with the third situation: The best way is to use dietary supplements and eat more calcium-rich foods. For example, big bone soup, braised spareribs, chicken soup, etc.

However, dietary supplements are slow, so you can also try quick methods such as calcium supplements.

If a child complains of leg pain after strenuous exercise, be sure to let the child reduce the amount of exercise appropriately, which will relieve the symptoms. If your child is calcium deficient, you can give him/her appropriate calcium supplements, have him/her eat more calcium-rich foods, and let him/her get more sun exposure to promote the body's absorption of calcium.
