What to do if your child has a red and swollen throat

Red and swollen throat is quite common in our daily life. This situation is likely caused by inflammation and other conditions. For adults, taking some anti-inflammatory drugs may gradually improve the condition. For children, when their throats become red and swollen, their resistance may be much lower than that of adults. Therefore, certain measures must be taken when children have red and swollen throats. So what should you do if your child has a sore throat?

When people talk about tonsils, they are usually referring to the palatine tonsils, which are like two "lumps of flesh" growing on both sides of the mouth. In addition, there are two pairs of tonsils in the nasopharynx behind the nasal cavity and at the root of the tongue, called "adenoids" and "lingual tonsils". Among them, the palatine tonsils in the oropharynx are the largest. Tonsils are an important organ in the human body. They have immune functions and are at the forefront of the invasion of exogenous pathogens. They are sentinels that protect the upper respiratory tract and even the entire body from invasion by pathogens. They are called immune active organs in the human body. The immune function of the tonsils is most obvious in early childhood, so children's tonsils should be taken good care of to prevent tonsillitis, especially recurrent inflammation.

First, avoid catching cold. In cold seasons, pay attention to keeping warm to prevent catching a cold; second, strengthen children's own immunity, let children do more outdoor activities and get more sun exposure; third, when tonsils are inflamed for the first time, they must be cured thoroughly. Some children with tonsillitis have received intravenous drips for 3 days, and their throats don’t hurt, so their parents think that the disease is cured and terminate the treatment. Due to incomplete treatment, it lays the seeds for recurrence. Tonsils are a "meat ball", and the throat doesn't hurt anymore, but the bacteria hidden in the "meat ball" have not been completely eliminated. It is necessary to continue taking the medicine for 7-10 days to prevent recurrent inflammation. Plasma ablation technology is the latest technology for treating enlarged tonsils in children. For tonsils that are physiologically enlarged but not inflamed, doctors only need to use plasma radiofrequency ablation electrodes to make a few ablation holes on the enlarged tonsils to shrink them to normal size, thus achieving the effect of having the best of both worlds - retaining the immune function of the tonsils and shrinking the enlarged tonsils to normal size so that they no longer affect breathing.

It is recommended that parents give their children more boiled water to avoid redness and swelling in their children's throats. Parents should try not to let their children touch drinks and it is best not to buy unhealthy snacks for their children. Once you find that your child has a red and swollen throat, you must detect and treat it early and don't let the disease be delayed too long.
