Small pimples on the back of the child's hand

Because a child's skin is still developing and their bones are still growing, their hands feel soft to the touch. Therefore, many adults like to grab the hands of young children when teasing them. However, in the process of teasing young children, they find that many small bumps appear on the back of the children's hands, which look shocking. Medical examinations have shown that the main reasons for small bumps on the back of children's hands are as follows.

1. What are small bumps?

In fact, these small bumps are very common and can be found on both adults and children, but they are more common in children aged 3-10 years old. The bumps are small. Some people have a large patch of them, while others have only a few. Most of them are painless and itchy and do not affect life. Only a few may be accompanied by itching.

These small skin bumps are called "sand dermatitis", medically known as infantile papular dermatitis. The cause of the disease is that children's skin is delicate, and after repeated stimulation and friction from water, sand, and soap, the skin's defense function is reduced. Coupled with the summer sun exposure and sweat immersion, the skin becomes inflamed and small bumps appear.

2. How to treat

Under normal circumstances, this type of "sand dermatitis" can gradually heal itself in about a month. Parents should try to reduce local irritation as much as possible, persuade their children not to play with sand and soap bubbles, avoid contact with wool and chemical fiber products, and reduce sun exposure and scratching.

For mild cases, you can apply it externally on the affected area:

1. Calamine lotion, 15% zinc oxide ointment, or corticosteroid ointment such as Relax ointment. If the rash is red, you can use 2-3% boric acid liquid cold wet compress, 2-3 times a day.

2. If the itching is obvious, it is recommended to take oral antipruritic drugs such as loratadine syrup at the same time; the specific dosage depends on age and weight.

Once a child develops large, dense areas of small bumps of "sand dermatitis", accompanied by severe pain or itching, redness, swelling and erosion of the skin, he or she should go to the hospital for treatment immediately.

3. It is prohibited to wash hands with soap.

4. The diet should be light.
