What causes redness and swelling around children’s eyes?

Every child in the family is a treasure, so once the child has some physical discomfort, parents will feel very worried. The editor once saw a parent who didn’t sleep for several days and nights because his child’s eyes were uncomfortable. The area around children's eyes is also a problem that everyone is concerned about. What happens if there is redness and swelling around children's eyes?

1. Poor sleep: Short sleep time will lead to swollen eyes after getting up in the morning, and some people will experience eye pain and swelling. For example, some people are nervous and cannot sleep well at night (which is what we often call sleeping frequently), and they may also have swollen eyes when they get up in the morning.

2. Related to sleeping posture: For example, some children occasionally do not use pillows, and their eyes may be swollen after sleeping for a night. However, some children never use pillows to sleep and their eyes will not be swollen. This is related to personal habits.

3. Related to drinking water: Some children drink a lot of water before going to bed, so they will have swollen eyes in the morning, which will disappear during the day.

The above eye swelling is normal, so if it is clearly caused by these reasons, there is no need to worry. The main diseases related to eye swelling include: skin disease, heart and kidney failure, and angioedema.

4. Children’s kidney disease causes swollen eyes. Since childhood kidney disease is a chronic disease (except acute nephritis), there may be no obvious symptoms that make the patient very uncomfortable at the beginning of the disease. Therefore, after getting up, varying degrees of eyelid edema is often an early symptom of kidney disease. If the child has a good night's rest and none of the non-renal causes listed above cause the swollen eyes, parents should take the child to the hospital for relevant examinations.

Therefore, at this time, we must pay attention to adopting different treatment methods according to the different conditions of the child, which will be more beneficial to the child's physical health. It is also important to note that in the short term, it is better to let children drink more water and eat less irritating food, which can reduce the risk of getting angry.
