How to treat hernia in children?

Parents are more confused when dealing with their children's hernia. Nowadays, science and technology are becoming more and more developed, people's living standards are getting higher and higher, and babies' health is receiving more and more attention. Therefore, more and more treatment methods are presented to parents. So before treatment, we parents should understand clearly what kind of disease children's hernia is, what are the causes, and what relief methods are available.

Due to developmental defects of the umbilicus, the umbilical ring fails to close, or the adhesion and healing of the umbilical cord root tissue and the umbilical ring are poor after the umbilical cord falls off. When the intra-abdominal pressure increases, the omentum or intestinal tract protrudes through the weak part of the umbilicus to form an umbilical hernia.

What people usually call pediatric hernia, from a medical point of view, mainly refers to congenital indirect hernia. This is because the boy's testicles descend to the scrotum through the inguinal canal before birth, and the peritoneum moves downward to form the processus vaginalis. If the processus vaginalis has not closed after the baby is born, it will become a larger cavity. The contents of the abdominal cavity will protrude from here to the body surface, forming an indirect hernia. Because the right testicle descends slightly later than the left, the processus vaginalis closes later, so there are more right-side inguinal hernias. Of course, girls can also develop indirect hernias due to weak abdominal walls, but the incidence rate is very low.

Some hernias can heal naturally and can be treated with adhesive tape. If the umbilical hernia is not healed after the age of 2, it should be treated surgically.

In addition, to nourish the children, you must choose foods that are light, not too cold, and do not break the qi, such as spinach, potatoes, carrots, herring, etc., fruits such as apples, grapes, peaches, etc., and foods that are temporarily not suitable for eating include mung beans, cabbage, bean sprouts, white radish, green radish, etc.; fruits include oranges, pears, etc.; greasy fried foods are also not suitable.

The above is what the editor told us about children’s hernia. Every parent should understand this and actively prevent the occurrence of hernia in children. There are two main reasons for the occurrence of hernia in children: congenital tissue structure defects and increased abdominal pressure. Therefore, we can take corresponding solutions to these two points.
