What should I do if my child has sparse teeth?

Nowadays, many children have irregular teeth. The teeth look sparse and are not close to each other. There is a gap between them, which gives people a bad impression. Because teeth have a significant impact on appearance, many parents are concerned that their children may not have good teeth growth, which is bad for them. But I don’t know how to correct it. Here we will introduce the solution to the problem of sparse teeth in children.

The best period for children's orthodontics is between 10 and 14 years old. The first-grade students of a certain school found that two classmates, Maomao and Fangfang, had thin wire-like devices installed on their teeth, which they found very strange. It turned out that one of them had uneven teeth, and the other had overbite, and they were receiving orthodontic treatment from a dentist.

Some children and even some parents think that as long as they brush their teeth regularly, they will have healthy and white teeth. Actually, it is not. The chief physician of the Department of Stomatology at Shanghai Hushen ENT Hospital pointed out that during the eruption process of teeth, due to the influence of various factors, they may become unevenly arranged or have abnormal positions between the upper and lower jaws. These phenomena are collectively referred to as dentofacial deformities in stomatology.

Correcting the above-mentioned bad habits can achieve the goal of correcting dental and jaw deformities in children under 5 years old. Some deformities caused by poor muscle movement can be treated with muscle function training under the guidance of a doctor. However, if the child is older and the jaw deformity is very obvious, orthodontic treatment is necessary. Dr. Wang Ying emphasized that the best age for orthodontic treatment of children is 10 to 14 years old. Treatment during this period is short in time and effective in curing the disease. The older you are, the longer orthodontic treatment takes, the more difficult it is to treat, and some may even require surgical treatment.

The above introduces some methods to solve the problem of sparse teeth in children, but in addition to treatment, prevention is also very important, so children should use fewer bottles and pacifiers, especially eat less sweet foods, and develop good habits of brushing their teeth in the morning and evening and rinsing their mouths after meals from an early age. They should eat less hard foods that will affect the growth of teeth, such as eating melon seeds and sugarcane.
