Reasons why babies blink frequently

Reasons why babies blink frequently

Every parent wants their child to grow up healthy and strong, but in life, they always feel at a loss when they find that their children have these symptoms. For example, some parents find that their children blink frequently. Let us understand what causes this.

First, inflammatory stimulation

Inflammatory stimulation is the most common cause of children's blinking. The most common ones are conjunctivitis, keratitis, etc. caused by infections such as bacteria, viruses, and chlamydia. In addition to causing children to blink more frequently, inflammation can also cause symptoms such as redness and itching of the eyes, increased secretions, and tearing.

To treat frequent blinking caused by bacterial inflammatory stimulation, you can use tobramycin eye drops or 0.1% rifampicin eye drops 3-6 times a day; you can use erythromycin or other antibiotic eye ointments once a night. In severe cases, the number of eye drops can be increased to once every 1-2 hours. If the inflammation is caused by a virus, use acyclovir or endafine eye drops once every 1-2 hours. Severe cases require systemic medication.

Second, congenital entropion and trichiasis

Some children are born with inverted eyelids (medically known as eyelids), which causes the eyelashes to fall on the surface of the eyeball, irritating the cornea (the surface of the black eyeball) and causing tears.

In terms of treatment, for mild entropion, the eyelid can be gently turned outward to its normal position and fixed with traction by applying tape to the local skin. As the child's body develops, the entropion is expected to heal itself. Severe cases require surgical correction.

3. ADHD in children

Children with ADHD often show sudden, involuntary contraction movements of certain parts of the body, such as frowning, twisting the mouth, shrugging the shoulders, and inattention. Some children will also make strange noises, or even swear and use dirty words at the same time. This condition is medically called childhood attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and foul language syndrome. Frequent blinking is also a manifestation of ADHD. The cause of the disease is currently unclear, and it may be related to mental factors such as mental tension and emotional instability. This disease seriously affects children's normal life, study and mental health.

Treatment is mainly based on behavior correction. Parents should cooperate with the doctor to provide timely reminders to help their children control themselves, but they should not be too impatient and should not scold or beat their children. They need to gradually guide and persuade their children patiently.

In daily life, if your baby blinks frequently, parents should first consider that there is a problem with the child's eyes. They should actively check the child and never ignore the child's vision. Parents should pay more attention to it.
