What is the treatment for bacterial enteritis in infants?

Fungal enteritis is common in children who are malnourished or have been using broad-spectrum antibiotics for a long time. The frequency of bowel movements increases, to 3 to 5 times a day, and in some cases up to 10 times a day. The stools are yellow, loose, foamy, and contain mucus, and sometimes small tofu-like lumps can be seen. Fungal spores and hyphae can be seen in stool microscopy, and fungal growth may be found in stool culture. The course of the disease is often prolonged and the treatment is more complicated.

The following methods should be used to treat fungal enteritis.

(l) Immediately stop all broad-spectrum antibiotics.

(2) Take antifungal drugs. For example, nystatin is taken at 50,000 to 100,000 mg/kg body weight per day, divided into 3 doses; clotrimazole is taken at 20 to 60 mg/kg body weight per day, divided into 3 doses. Its side effects include gastrointestinal reactions, and occasionally numbness of the hands and feet, leukocytopenia, etc.; gentian violet is taken orally at 1 to 2 mg/year per day. Children with thrush should first rinse their mouth with 3% soda water, and then apply 1% gentian violet to the mouth, twice a day. Generally, the treatment can be cured in 2 to 3 days; clotrimazole is taken at 20 mg/kg body weight per day, divided into 2 times for intravenous drip.

(3) Drugs that adjust normal intestinal flora. For example, take 1-2 capsules of Huichunsheng each time, 3 times a day, orally; take 0.5-1 gram of Mia each time, 3 times a day, orally; take 0.3-0.9 grams of Lactase each time, 3 times a day. You can also take folic acid, Bifido, Bacteriostasis, Mommy Love, etc.

(4) Supportive therapy. Children with malnutrition need to strengthen supportive therapy, and can receive small amounts of plasma or blood albumin, pediatric amino acids, pediatric fat emulsion, etc. People with anemia can receive repeated small amounts of blood transfusions.
