Causes of perianal abscess in newborns

Causes of perianal abscess in newborns

Perianal abscess in newborns is a relatively common phenomenon. Because the area around the anus of newborns is relatively fragile, abscesses are particularly prone to occur. For many parents, when their children develop perianal abscesses, in order for their children to be treated and recover as soon as possible, they want to know the causes. In order for you to understand as quickly as possible, please take a look at the following introduction.

The reason why newborns are prone to perianal abscesses is still unclear. Some experts analyze the reasons as follows:

① Anal sinusitis is one of the common diseases in newborns and the main cause of anal fistula in newborns. Anal sinus inflammation is caused by the contraction of the anal sphincter, which affects the excretion of inflammatory secretions (including pus), allowing the inflammation to spread to the rectum and around the anus, thereby forming an perianal abscess. Since the area around the anus is very close to the skin and the mucous membranes of adjacent organs (such as the vulva and vagina of female babies), once an abscess is formed, it is equivalent to the formation of a fistula. The inner opening of the fistula is located on the rectal wall, and the outer opening is located on the mucous membrane of the skin or other organs. After the pus flows out, the abscess forms a tube connecting the inner and outer openings.

② Low immunity. This type of sick child has worse resistance than healthy newborns (who have weak immunity and are not yet mature) and is prone to sepsis and local infection.

③ Systemic or adjacent anal suppurative infection, which may be complicated by perianal infection. Some people believe that some newborns secrete too much male hormone, which stimulates the sebaceous glands around the anus, causing them to secrete excessively and leading to secondary infection.

④ Occasionally, perianal infection may occur after trauma, including anorectal surgery, and eventually anal fistula may form.

⑤Others, including tumor rupture, sexually transmitted disease infection, etc.

⑥ Congenital anal fistula. Some experts believe that it is caused by abnormal development of the recto-vaginal septum in the fetal stage. In particular, rectal vestibule fistula and rectovaginal fistula in girls are likely to exist at birth and show symptoms after birth.

The causes of perianal abscess in neonates are introduced in detail above for many parents. I believe that many parents have a specific introduction to the causes of perianal abscess in neonates through the above content. After understanding the above introduction and the causes, they must receive treatment as soon as possible to let their children get rid of perianal abscess as soon as possible.
