What to do if your baby has tics?

The existence of a baby is an important figure in maintaining the harmony of a family, so every baby receives the care and love of all family members. When a baby is found to have tics, the whole family will be extremely worried. In fact, worrying too much will only make you flustered. It is better to be well prepared in advance, which can not only enhance the baby's physique, but also avoid worrying your family. Let’s take a look at what to do if your baby has tics!

1. During the treatment, attention must be paid to the protection of the cervical spine. It is required to wear a neck brace, avoid jumping, running and other movements that cause large head vibrations, and try to avoid twisting the head and neck, such as swimming, running, playing ball, etc. It is strictly forbidden to do handstands, forward rolls, backward rolls and other exercises. The patient and his family must actively cooperate with the doctor's treatment.

2. Avoid emotional fluctuations, watch less TV, do not play video games, do not watch horror movies and TV dramas, get along well with classmates, and do not fight. Patients with Tourette syndrome must avoid getting angry, frightened, mentally anxious, overly excited, and overly tired.

3. Prevent colds. Colds not only cause tics, but are also one of the important factors that make tics symptoms more serious. Therefore, patients with tics should go to bed early and get up early, exercise, go to public places less often, add or remove clothes as soon as possible, etc., to prevent colds.

4. In terms of diet, try not to drink beverages containing coffee and carbonated drinks to avoid being too excited; try not to eat fried foods, such as: fried dough sticks, KFC, etc., and do not eat spicy and frozen foods, and eat less seafood such as shrimp, crabs, lamb, dog meat, etc.

5. Self-supervision method: Ask the patient to record his or her involuntary movements in detail within a specified time every day, such as the number and frequency of tics and whether there is any relationship between them and the environment. By recording for a period of time, children's resistance to tics can be enhanced and they can work hard to overcome them. This method is suitable for older children or adults.

6. Behavioral reversal training: Behavioral training, also known as habit reversal training, is effective in reducing or alleviating tic symptoms and is considered to be the most effective behavioral treatment method. Its main feature is the use of an oppositional method that is opposite to or inconsistent with the tic disorder to control the tic, that is, using an oppositional reaction to stop the tic.

These little methods are summarized by most people through practice, so they are still very practical. Of course, the fundamental solution to baby tics is to enhance their own immunity. Parents can also take their babies out for exercise more often, travel more often when they are free, relax, and enhance family harmony.
