What should I do if my child has asthma-related pneumonia?

Pneumonia is also relatively common in our lives. Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lungs caused by inadequate inhalation of pathogens into the respiratory tract. Pneumonia in young children is even more worrying. So what should we do if a child has pneumonia? Let’s take a look together below!

Pneumonia is caused by different pathogens or other factors (inhalation or allergic reaction, etc.). The main clinical manifestations of lung inflammation are fever, cough, shortness of breath, dyspnea and fine moist rales in the lungs.

Nursing care for pneumonia:

(1) Keep the respiratory tract unobstructed, dilute sputum to facilitate coughing, maintain appropriate indoor temperature and humidity; encourage children to drink more water.

(2) Help the child to expectorate, such as turning the child over, performing postural drainage, suctioning sputum, etc.

(3) Give antibiotics as prescribed by the doctor to eliminate inflammation and reduce sputum secretion.

(4) Prevent complications and observe changes in the condition. If the following situations occur, notify the doctor in time. ① The fever persists or rises again. The symptoms of poisoning worsen, breathing difficulties, frequent coughing, and coughing up a lot of purulent sputum indicate the possibility of lung abscess. ② If the condition suddenly worsens, with severe coughing, breathing difficulties, chest pain, cyanosis, rapid pulse rate, irritability, and limited breathing movement on the affected side, the possibility of empyema or pyopneumothorax should be considered.

During the period of pneumonia, the baby's diet should be lighter, and the baby can continue to drink milk powder. If the baby has a fever, he cannot eat eggs, and fish can be added in moderation. Whether it will be cured depends on the baby's physical recovery. Parents should actively cooperate with the doctor's treatment.

Through the above sharing, you have a certain understanding of your baby's pneumonia. Then you must do a good job of baby's health care in daily life to prevent the invasion of pathogens, and bad habits should be corrected in time.
